Don't Die Young
I suspect the title was chosen simply to ensure the book was a bestseller. Basically Alice's advice on how to avoid an early death is: Don't smoke, eat a Mediterranean (now replaced by Nordic) diet, exercise. I think we all know that. What the book is very useful for is illustrating how the human body works and how everything functions and interconnects. I had no idea about this and I learned plenty from her lively, readable style (though lots of Latin and Greek terms are, of course, unavoidable).

Highly recommended!
Alice at her best. All the major organs are explored and explained in such a way that the reader can see for themselves the reason for the title of the book.Educational, humorous, never dull, never patronising and never critical - in fact she recommends a unit of red wine a day to beat off cancer! 😊.

Nicely put together but a little out of date.
Really interesting and well presented with images but I felt that some of the advice was a little dated as of 2018. To be fair it was published some years ago and medicine has moved on.

Don't die young
I am still in the process of reading this as it is the sort of book you need to take your time over. Dr Roberts has a very easy and clear style of writing and describing the human body and its various functions. This is a (text)book for the non-medical person, who would like to gain a deeper understanding of how the body and its organs works. It is a few years old now and the 'staying healthy' sections are somewhat limited in scope, however, I would definitely recommend it as an introduction to the human body for anyone with no or little prior knowledge.

Old but useful
An early book from Dr Alice's career but full of useful stuff that might just keep you above ground for a few more years.

Friiendly and well written advice about parts of the bodies and how to look after them
Well written and with useful practical information written by a medical professional that is easily understandable to most people. Nicely weighs up the evidence and the pros and cons of how we live our lives and what is good and bad for us. Points us in the right direction in a light and friendly way.
