A BASIC BOOK OF LITTLE HELP IN RACE FABRICATION
The cover showing the tubular space frame & title fooled me into thinking this would be a useful book that would help me with race car fabrication. But no, in the first chapter the author tells me he will not cover anything that requires welding or specalized equipment. In fact the book is a guide on how to make flat mounting plates out of aluminum. No bending that I can recall, simply marking out, cutting with a hack saw, drilling and filing. And this he explains very well and illustrates with lots of large and somewhat repetitive page filling photos. He gives a brief explanation about rivets and fasteners, drill sizes and brake hoses again with photos. The drill size tables are unfortunately in AF and inches which is not very helpful in our world of metric. To Sum up if you want to mount an extra instrument, a couple of electrical sockets, switches or a fuel filter using a propitiatory clamp (see cover) using mostly aircraft spec materials and nuts and bolts which he has access to, then this is the book for you. If you want something serious about race fabrication then you might like to look elsewhere. I have given the book one star and have returned it.

Item Description and Delivery time
By the time the book arrives from this supplier you would be better off growing your own tree, making your own paper and printing it yourself.Purchased item early November 2018 arrived mid January 2019.Finally thought book was about fabrication i.e metal welding, bending and shaping etc... nope.... all about pipe work as in air brakes fuel lines etc....for me a TOTAL waste of time and money.I would ask for my money back but i think by the time it arrived the money value would have depreciated that much it would be worthless.

GREAT book for anyone big into modifying cars.
For the average shade tree mechanic like myself it's amazing to look at a race car and see all the fancy fittings and clamps and other little bits that separate an OK build from a great one.The author jumps right in and brings up topics that you don't hear people in the car modding community talk about much (a lot of people lust after AN fittings but half of them don't know what the sizes mean). The author gives you pretty much all the information you need to select and purchase the parts you'll need to take your car that extra step.A lot of the practices are pulled from the aviation industry, but why shouldn't they be? if it's good enough for a plane it's even better for a performance car. This book is a wonderful reference in my opinion. and it shows that with just a little bit of thinking and some simple parts and tools you can really take your car (or bike) to the next level.he has example projects in the book that walk you through his process on his car.I've seen many a misused zip-tie, many a badly routed hose, and components mounted in ways that scare me. This book will show you the right way. and while it may be a little more expensive and take a little more time up front, it gives you the confidence that your car will hold together and run properly no matter what you throw at it.I'll say it just once more... If you build or modify cars... pick this one up.

The books was a bit too simplistic for my needs , but does cover some good info reguarding AN fittings and aircraft quality materials .

This book is for builders and restorers going beyond the normal build and repair schedule
I can blame this purchase on my 2005 BMW 325. I purchased this book because I was so mad when the plastic parts began leaking either water or PCV gases. After a $730 bill to replace the radiator overflow tank that had a small 1/4 leak. They found the PCV hose (another hard plastic piece) had a leak and would cost $420 to repair. I decided maybe I needed to learn more about hoses and fittings so I could replace the plastic with good solid metal hoses and other metal parts. The plastic leaking PCV hose lead me to AN hoses used on race car engines. That lead me to this book. I confess I read this book in one sitting. It is well written and fits in with my hot rod racing fetish. Reading this book opened up a new view on design and engineering. Gee - I can replace my cheap degradable parts with hoses engineered for airplanes where failure is not an option. Even better the AN hoses cost less than the cheap plastic parts from BMW. If making your car or motorcycle more bullet proof or you want to mod your current car to a higher standard - this book is for you. If you are not open to that kind of work and want to pay your auto shop a bundle of money to replace OEM part with the same cheap plastic OEM parts - well it is your car and your money.

Great reference book for first time or experienced builder!
this is an extremely useful and practical book. It covers fabrication of mounts, fastener 101, electrical wiring and routing, fuel and brake hard line construction, etc. It is full of large, detailed color photographs with hundreds of tips and tricks. Save yourself lots of time and frustration - keep this book handy
