Excellent Quality and Easy Setup - A Must-Have for Home Security!
I recently purchased the Tapo cameras, and I am beyond impressed with their performance! The setup was incredibly easy—within minutes, I had them connected to my Wi-Fi and ready to go, thanks to the clear instructions in the app. Image Quality: The camera's video quality is fantastic, with crisp HD resolution, even at night. The night vision feature works perfectly, providing clear and sharp images even in complete darkness. Motion Detection: The motion detection is spot-on and can be customized to suit my needs. I love how I can receive instant notifications if there’s any activity detected. It adds an extra layer of security for my home, giving me peace of mind. App Control: The Tapo app is intuitive and easy to navigate. I can check live footage, adjust settings, and review recorded videos all from my phone. It’s incredibly convenient to be able to monitor my home remotely. Two-Way Audio: The two-way audio feature is a nice touch! I can easily communicate with visitors or speak to my pets if needed. It’s a small feature but adds a lot of value. Overall, these cameras offer excellent value for money, providing top-notch security features, easy installation, and user-friendly controls. I highly recommend the Tapo cameras to anyone looking to upgrade their home security setup!

Warning: Avoid the Tapo C402 camera and think twice before subscribing to Tapo’s cloud service.
We purchased two Tapo cameras (the Tapo 120 and the Tapo C402). Both worked fine—until we upgraded to a new Xfinity modem/router. After that, the Tapo C402 simply refused to reconnect to our Wi‑Fi network. Over the course of multiple calls with Tapo’s tech support, we repeated the same troubleshooting steps more than ten times, including: - Confirming the correct Wi‑Fi password (we even deleted and re‑added the network on our phone to verify it). - Rebooting the router and attempting setup again. - Reinstalling the Tapo app. - Moving the camera directly next to the router to eliminate signal issues. None of these attempts worked. Meanwhile, our Tapo 120 camera reconnected instantly—proving the problem is not our router, our Wi‑Fi, or our setup process. The issue is specific to the C402. We purchased the Tapo C402 at the end of December 2024. When we contacted TP‑Link support, they informed us that the device was out of warranty by a matter of weeks and that they would not offer any assistance or replacement. To make matters worse, we subscribed to Tapo’s cloud service for both cameras in April 2026. The app provides no option to cancel the subscription for the C402, even though the camera no longer works. We are still waiting for a response from their subscription team, but based on other users’ experiences, Tapo typically refuses refunds because the service is “prepaid.” For context: we previously used Dropcam and Arlo cameras and never once had issues reconnecting them to Wi‑Fi. Now that the Tapo C402 has failed, we’ve reactivated our Arlo system without any trouble. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating. Reconnecting a Wi‑Fi camera should be simple. Instead, we were left with a non‑functional device, unhelpful customer support, and a cloud subscription we cannot cancel. We’re sharing this so others don’t waste money on the Tapo C402 or get locked into a cloud service that offers no flexibility and no support when their hardware fails.

TP-Link HD camera, TAPO app
Great bang for the buck wireless outdoor security camera. TP-link makes great products. I own and use their WIFI routers and access points, along with cameras. Standard HD resolution is adequate for detection of people while alerts, sensitivity settings are easy to tweak and set up. Motion detection is available too. TAPO app is easy to use on my Android phone. I have TP-Link cameras set up at 2 different locations/addresses and it's easy to switch back and forth between addresses. The only gripe I have with this model is the mount. The magnetic mounts on previous models are better than the swivel-style mount on this model.... that's why I'm giving 4-stars instead of 5. Camera has to be unscrewed from mount to charge, instead of just grabbing it from the mounted magnet. Charge will last anywhere from 3-6 months depending on how sensitive the detection settings are. Setup was easy... connecting camera to WIFI took about 30 seconds. I use SD cards instead of cloud for playback and download of people/motion detection video clips. SD cards are cheaper in the long run. Recommended for those who need video security at a reasonable cost.

Really a good product.
I recently bought to my backyard, Its very easy to setup and no wiring just one full charge then u are ready to go. So smooth and worth the price. Good quality, Immediate notification on motion detection, and two way talking and lights on the device and really good night vision. I was searching for a cam without wiring stuff and landed here to buy. Its really worth buying it.

Great customer service
Good camera. Did have to reach out to support as one day the back piece broke. The customer service rep Glenn was very courteous, nice, knowledgeable and willing to help me get a replacement piece. Thank you Glenn for your help.

Battery Life not 180 days and need video to show how to take camera down to charge battery
Everything works great, but battery does not last 180 days. Bought end of October '25 and now end of Jan '26 and I will need to change battery soon (sitting at 22%). Charge seems to have had a sudden drop of 10% just in the last 10 days, would like to think maybe due to extremely cold weather. It is aimed only onto my front porch so not picking up a lot motion from area beyond. I would to see a video on how to take camera down so battery can be charged. (I did not install camera and it sits up above front door.) First time having to charge battery, if I find it easier than I think to remove to charge battery, I will update. Battery life was main reason for purchasing camera.

Cost Effective quality solution
Several thoughts, initially I selected TAPO 402 camera(s) because of a somewhat positive experience with TAPO extender(s) made by the same company as well as door bell camera - also same company. Mostly very happy with the purchases. The camera provides exceptional picture clarity. Installation was straight forward, the batteries were about 50% - 60% upon arrival. Manual says to let them charge for about 7 hours, mine charged in about 4.5 hours. included charger and cables worked well with NO ISSUES. Mounting the cameras was not a problem. Field of view was very good (especially the depth). I already had some experience with the app from 2 previous products. The different detection modes was EXTREMELY NICE. A MAJOR POSITIVE point was that everything can be accomplished with LOCAL (on the camera) storage by using a MICRO SD CARD (up to 512 GB). Recall and play back of the locally stored audio & video works well at home as well as away from home! All of the component cameras integrate very nicely with in the TAPO app and they play well together. You get 30 days free cloud storage with each individual camera (including the previously mentioned door bell camera -- via an included HUB for the door bell). NO SUBSCRIPTION !! :-) :-) :-) Here are I few things I wish TAPO would have done a bit better: PROVIDE LIVE PERSON to PERSON Technical support (not a fan of EMAIL or CHAT support - TOO LONG DELAY for REPLY). MORE secure mounting of cameral to stand -- Maybe some type of security bolt or lock (??), it is too easy to remove the camera from the mount. Somewhat more user friendly NAMING CONVENTIONS - within the app. IMPROVE THE INTEGRATION & FUNCTION(s) WITH ALEXA -- This was a major selling point for me. It took the better part of 3 hours on the phone with LIVE (person to person) AMAZON (technical) support to enable ALEXA to recognize the door bell camera and 2 of the other out side cameras, a major saving grace of that technical support session was that the agent was able to screen share with me through my phone, everything was thoroughly validated and secure for the screen share. MAYBE TAPO could offer this in the future -- perhaps 30 days worth from initial installation . Was eventually able to get ALEXA to announce (and show) when some was at the door. The TAPO cameras work very well with their app, ALEX (app) works very well with its show hardware! Getting BOTH platforms to play NICE with each other was a chore, BUT, in the end well worth it! Happy with all of the cameras definitely plan to purchase at least one more. I am glad that I purchased them and expect that they will last a long time. I have not been compensated in ANY way for this review
