So, the first thing I did when I opened this was slightly nick my finger. Silly, right? A couple of the tools obviously have blades and they are sharp.The crimping tool feels quite sturdy. I'd never actually crimped a RJ45 connector onto a cable before today, but did a lot of RJ11 (telephone) connectors in the day. Crimping 4-pin connectors onto a flat cable is a lot easier then crimping an 8-pin connector onto a round cable. It takes a bit of effort to get the colors lined up and onto the connector head and crimped down, but I did get it right on the first try.There are no instructions with the kit. You can get them on the Internet easily enough, but don't expect complain when you buy this and don't see instructions in it. Not hard to find them. Obviously, you need to get the colors right.I like the fact that the tool set comes with an extra phillips and flat head screw drivers. Never hurts to have these in your small tool kits. I tried the line tester and it worked as expected. It is simple, but effective. The kit includes 10 RJ45 connectors so you might want to order a few extra if you plan on working on a lot of cables (or you are new to trying to do this and want some extras to test with).Good set and a good value. So far so good! Happy with my purchase.

I bought this for the crimpers but over time I have been using all of the other tools in the kit. Great purchase for the money.

Items were at a very reasonable price (less than $25). Separately bought, one could easily pay twice the price for the items included. Additionally, the items are sturdy and work well enough. While the kit offers a good variety of tools for home networking and audio/video installation, I was particularly anxious to see how the cable tester would work, as I wanted to troubleshoot a recent home networking run involving buried cat-6 cable with some breaks using rj-45 couplers. Once I got it, I immediately went to work and am happy to report, the tester is functional and works just fine. Sometimes the tester gives false negatives, so I'd advise resetting and performing the test multiple times. You will need a 9v battery for the tester. The other tools are all tools that I normally use for home installation projects and will serve as back ups for me. The design of the crimper allows you to cut your finger easily on the sharp blade used for cutting the cable, so be careful. I nicked mine a couple times. The included rj-45 ends don't fit properly in a lot of my equipment, including the supplied Ethernet tester. I haven't used the other tools as yet, so can't comment on their usability.

Product was great. In one set, if provided all the tools needed to perform a typical network repair or additional. It’s nice CE to have everything in one kit so you can just grab and go! The line tester worked as expected to test both a telephone line and internet connection. Case seems well made. Also glad they included a parts case. Overall, great product and well worth the cost!

I had to complete a small job in my basement and needed an Ethernet crimp tool and punch down tool. I was able to get this kit delivered in less than 24 hours and was impressed with what it included. It even included a network tester, which I hadn't realized when I bought it. Turns out that was a very important part of the job because I made some errors with my initial connections. I used the wrong punch down tool for an RJ45 jack and ruined the jack. Including some instructions to show usage of the tools would be an opportunity for improvement. Overall, I got my job completed successfully and was happy with this purchase.

I'm surprised this kit has such a high review. This is a really cheap quality kit that is barely suitable for anyone to use. I bought this for a job I was doing for free, was in a hurry and didn't want to spend a lot or use my work tools. I figured it was cheap, but these are not worth it.The punch down is flimsy, though it didn't break on me it did have a heck of a time using the scissor part to actually cut wire. I ended up using my Leatherman to trim. In fact for the majority of the job I used the small yellow manual tool to actually do punch downs. The blade style punch downs are so much better than this.I made one cable for the tester tool. The tester worked perfect. It showed I was missing 2 pins, brown-white/brown. I checked the connector and the tool missed the pins entirely. I ended up using my knife edge to squeeze the two pins to bite the wire as the tool just wouldn't align to press them down. To be fair it was probably the plug, but this style seems more prone not aligning well. There are better designs.This is a case of you-get-what-you-pay-for. If you want a cheap kit, this is perfect. If you want quality tools that will give you years of use, look elsewhere. The high review rating made me think this is a good product and should work like any other tool, maybe cheap but functional. This is barely functional at best, and at worst could cause you to waste time trying to get around its shortcomings. I was in a rush and just glossed over the reviews and figured it was good enough. Now that I have more time I'm going to replace most of this kit and buy more professional tools for off-work jobs. The case is nice.

I liked that it was easy to use and it performed perfect when I used it to install a Cat5e UTP cable from the AT&T box outside to my modem inside my home and it made the job so much easier for me! The only thing I would change would be some sort of blade cover for the lowest blade in between the handle on the crimper/cutter but not a deal breaker by no means, I just put a small piece of Styrofoam on it when I put it back into the case.
