A Tundra Tailgate Must Have
This is the perfect tailgate shock for all Tundra (2010 Platinum) Crewmax owners. Made this Purchase after the tailgate started slamming down vice slowly easing down. Very quiet and stiff when operating.

trash
2 minute install on my 2014 Tundra, but quality is trash.... tailgate doesn't go down smoothly or slowly and definitely no assistance going up! wasted my 4 minutes!

Raise the Tailgate to Connect the Top of the Strut.
This part initially seemed to be 4" too long to fit my 2011 Toyota Tundra Crewmax. HOWEVER, understand that you will need to attach the bottom connection first, THEN RAISE THE TAILGATE to the closed position and THEN attach the top connector. It fits perfectly if installed correctly. One star off because the operation of the piston is not smooth. Is slowly drops, but does so in hesitant fits. Still, its an improvement over slamming down and at a much lower cost than the Toyota part.

Good as new in 5 minutes!
The tailgate support seems to be of good quality. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to install. And equally impressed at the final outcome as the shock allowed for super easy smooth opening. Once you remove the old shock, this one easily snaps into place and functions perfectly.

Doesn’t fit
This is garbage. The eye on the non booted side (the top) is smaller than the stud. I don’t know if I got an anomaly and they screwed the wrong end on (stud is tiny like 4mm that it threads on). I rigged it to work by taking the clip off and drilling it out and putting the clip back but it’s not on flush like the bottom or the old one was too and bottom. I don’t trust it to not fall off. Don’t waste your money on this one.

Works great
Worked great on my 08 tundra. Fairly simple install, just takeoff the tailgate and remove the two bolts for the back left light. Pop off the old and put on the new and put everything back.
