plugged it into my car VW Touran got the green light like it says in the manual
Edit 28th September 2016 - I was contacted by Anker and they kindly sent out a replacement on the back of this review, no questions asked. The new Device was tested again on on my 2l VW Touran and again it didn't have the power to start the car, so I decided to test on my wife's Toyota Yaris 1000cc (She was not happy). I left the lights on over night and tested with both my Jump Starter and the replacement both started the car first time. So I have given the product 4* on the biases of the customer service and that it does work on a smaller engine size. Wouldn't recommend it for the 2 litre like it suggests but a handy tool to keep in smaller cars for those cold winter days.Bought this o n the 26th of March never used it. Charged it to fully and then today finally needed it (17th September). Must restate I have never used this till today for the first time, plugged it into my car VW Touran got the green light like it says in the manual, went to start the car and nothing, it does light up the dash but doesn't have enough power to start the car. I can't return the product because it is out of the return date but I couldn't test it when I bought it as didn't have a flat battery. Now I am stuck with a very expensive phone charger.

Not as easy as it looks
I got this to restart a car that had been left sitting for a few weeks. The instructions were very simple: connect the starter, wait for the green light and turn it over. That would have been wonderful if I'd got a green light, but I didn't and nothing would make it happen. No combination of connection sequence seemed to help. After half and hour of attempting to bump start the car and was left waiting for the AA, it appeared that there was suddenly enough voltage for the stater to detect the car. Finally, and with the Anker starter almost drained, it finally started! It took almost a full hour to get the car started late on a Sunday night using this device, which was not extremely disappointing! The device doesn't seem to work on a car that is completely dead unfortunately. I would like to have seen a facility to fast charge a dead battery for ten minutes in a situation like mine.Update: I did speak to their customer services and they were very helpful and positive to speak to; they also gave me a refund in the end. I do enjoy many of their other products and would happily recommend them. Just be aware that this item will not start a completely dead car!

Customer Service at its best!
Looks the part and the case is lovely. Alas! I had a battery failure today morning and the flashing red and green lights would not turn solid green to indicate safety to jump start my car. This was the first time I used this kit. Not reliable whatsoever. returning back to Amazon for a full refund!WOW! this is what I call customer service. I obviously had a duff piece. Anker sent me a brand new piece and that too after contacting me themselves. My battery was completely flat on my VW Golf 1.6 and I mean not even the dashboard light was coming on. Put this little gem to play and low and behold the car started in my first attempt. Truly incredible piece of engineering. I ordered a few others from the competition and nothing beats this Anker presentation box. One gripe is that it should also allow a 12v output connection to fill up air via compressor etc. This does the job as advertised. I have amended me review to 5 stars as nothing beats the finish and presentation of this item. Does not look cheap and does what it says on the tin. The jump cables provided are much better quality than the other competitors here on Amazon. truly awesome product , which I am happy to recommend.EDIT ***************** UPDATEI have updated the star rating from 5 stars to 1. I used this today on a wet rainy day when my battery was flat after the radio was left on. My vehicle is a 2.5 diesel Nissan Pathfinder. The red and green light would not turn green. Tried different combinations but no joy. This happened with my Golf last week which is only a 1.6 petrol. The issue is that the flickering lights will not turn green no matter what! This happened now twice when I needed my cars the most. Anker customer service is great but unfortunately this product is not upto the mark. You only ever need this in emergencies and this has failed me twice with an RAC call out. taken off 4 stars as the product is totally unreliable not fit for purpose. This has also been reported by other buyers.UPDATE*************24th January 2016Anker has been excellent they contacted me and provided some further info around having the car battery voltage lower than the charger for the lights on the cable to turn green. As they advised this worked for me. I left the headlights on for a few seconds to deplete the vehicle battery and the lights turned green. However, it still is not able to turn a 2.5 diesel Pathfinder. Jump starting this with a traditional jump kit works fine and the battery is fairly new too. This starter is good if you want to use it for petrol engines, just don't expect it to turn over a diesel. Why did I give one star? Well its advertised as being able to turn over diesels over 3.5 litre and it doesn't Anker have been great in providing support though..

Quality item once again from Anker!
Received my Anker PowerCore 400 this morning and once again Anker blew me away with the high quality presentation and feel of their product. It is supplied in a handy zippered branded case with pockets in the upper lid to secure the wall & car chargers as well as the leads for connecting to a MicroUSB device and the car battery. The lower section has a covered cutout that houses the PowerCore 400 unit. The unit has 2 USB ports to connect to and charge 5 volt portable devices such as cellphones etc. Next to these there is a small circular female plug which is used to receive the male plug attached to either the wall or car charger on one side and a four orange LED indicator on the other side (each indicator is equal to 25% of the units capacity). There is a covered socket next to the power port which the car battery clamps lead plugs into. Also included is a torch, which is impressively bright, that is activated by a long press on a power switch. Once on, a further press switches from a steady light to a slow flashing light and another press gets a strobe effect. A final press switches the torch off.As stated in the initial paragraph, Anker have once again excelled both in the presentation and the high quality manufacture of the product and I have no problem in awarding them 5 stars or recommending the PowerCore 400.
