The Best Among the Bunch.
This is the only digital soil meter on the market. All others utilize a magnetically operated needle, that swings in front of 3-to-5 scales. As a result, the user gets rough estimates instead of actual numbers. . It is also one of the few that requires battery power to operate. An electric charge is emitted into the soil and is received in the probe. A circuit board measures the tiny changes and reports the results in digital form. Many competing devices use no batteries. I wonder how their diagnoses work without electricity? . I took the meter to task on the first day. The initially readings were off. AMBIEN LIGHT measured 0, although the meter was under a grow lamp. SOIL MOISTURE measured 95% - very wet, although the dirt was only moist. . After a "break in period" of one day, I tested again on the second. The features proved accurate. On the TEMPERATURE feature, I measured room air. The temperature was 1F higher than my oven thermometer and room thermostat. . . . Excellent! . To test the PH feature. I wet a face towel with water. It achieved a 7.1 reading - neutral. Water was neutral. . . . . Then, I wet a spot on the fabric with vinegar. The reading was 6.0 - slightly acid. Although vinegar was 4% acetic acid in distilled water, I expected a strongly acid reading. So, the PH feature was off by a half notch. . The MOISTURE feature worked to perfection. It measured the potted soil at 20% - dry. Examining the dirt, the moisture held the dirt in clumps, but it was relatively dry. . The AMBIEN LIGHT feature was good. Three grow lamps shined on my 10 juniper seedlings in pots. Each light source had a 100 watt grow bulb, with a 1700 lux rating. Putting the meter under one, it measured 2640 lux. With the added indirect light from the two other lamps, the reading seemed correct. . In the past month, I purchased three other competing soil meters and returned all. They tested grossly inaccurate, or some of their features were inoperative. . On this product, the features worked to perfection, except for PH - half correct. A second problem was missing the ability to measure FERTILITY. A third problem was the small text on the screen for TEMPERATURE and MOISTURE readings. They were very small. Other than these three shortcomings, I ranked it the best among the many soil meters available on Amazon. . . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- . . UPDATE: After two months of usage, the unit became non-functional. First, it no longer showed moisture. Second, one-fourth of the LCD screen went blank. . I contacted the vendor for warranty repairs/replacement. Within an hour, it responded with a request for a video of the unit in action. In compliance, the unit was turned ON. The regular screen appeared, indicating NO PROBLEMS. .

Simple, Angled Probe, Effective
This multi purpose soil meter is what i needed at this price point. The well-designed angled probe is helpful to probe the soil and read the display without straining. Accurate moisture readings helped me dial in my irrigation perfectly, fixing over/underwatering issues. The insightful pH readings confirmed soil imbalances, allowing me to choose the right amendments. It took the guesswork out of soil management, leading to visibly healthier plants. Easy to use, provides actionable data highly recommend!

Works great
So far this soil moisture meter has been very good and seems to be accurate. I would definitely recommend it the only thing that I don't particularly care for is that it doesn't have a off button so you just have to wait for it to shut off on its own. But other than that I would totally say that it's a great plant moisture meter. I bought one before this and it was a total piece of junk and I thought maybe it was just a mistake so I returned it and got the same thing again and it was just as bad. It now seems to be off Amazon and I can't even write a review for it. But that's okay because this one is excellent and I would recommend it to anybody who's looking for one.

A plant lover’s must-have tool!
I am so impressed with this 4-in-1 soil moisture meter! As someone who loves gardening and taking care of indoor plants, this tool has been a total game changer. It’s so easy to use and gives me accurate readings for soil moisture, pH level, sunlight, and temperature — all in one device! Now I finally know exactly when to water and where to place my plants for the best light. The digital screen is clear and easy to read, and I love that it helps me avoid overwatering or underwatering my plants. It’s lightweight, durable, and doesn’t disturb the roots when testing. Since using this meter, my plants have been healthier and happier than ever. If you love your plants and want to make plant care so much easier, this is definitely worth it. Highly recommend!

A must-have for growing plants in containers!
I purchased this Soil Tester to monitor the health of my plants which are all in containers. This meter is excellent in quality with highly useful features and I can't say enough good things about it! Instead of using the finger method of determining if the soil is wet enough, this meter gives me an accurate measurement so there's no over watering. The temperature of the soil in the containers is of considerable importance as well. Well worth the money!!

Failed the pH experiment and back it went
This 4-in-1 soil probe claims to measure moisture, temperature, pH, and light. After testing it alongside an analog probe, I’d say it performs well in two areas, is questionable in one, and underwhelming in another. What it does well: Moisture – Accurate and easy to read. My analog probe uses a 10-point scale, while this one gives a percentage. After recent rain, this probe still showed high moisture in my tomato buckets, which matched the heavy feel of the soil. Temperature – Very helpful. I've been monitoring heat in different colored buckets (thanks to some advice from ChatGPT), and this has helped me take steps to manage soil temperature, especially during flowering and fruit set. Backlit Display – A nice bonus. I usually check plants in the evening, and the digital readout is much easier to see than trying to guess readings on an analog dial. What’s uncertain: pH – Still evaluating. It read distilled water as neutral, which is promising, but it doesn’t match my analog probe. I’ve ordered a third method to verify accuracy. If it turns out to be reliable, it would explain a lot about some of my plants' struggles. What falls short: Light Measurement – Disappointing. The meter maxes out at 9999 lux, which isn’t enough to measure full sun accurately (often 60,000+ lux). It gave the same reading for full sun and shaded areas under 40% shade cloth, so it's not sensitive or accurate enough to guide grow light or shading decisions. Also worth noting: lux measures light visible to the human eye—not necessarily what plants need. Bottom line: This is a good option if you're looking for a combined moisture and temperature probe, and possibly pH once verified. But for measuring light—especially for gardening or grow lights—this isn’t the tool. Ask ChatGPT for better light meter suggestions. UPDATE: I returned it. I conducted a calibration experiment with distilled water, alkaline water, and acidic water (1/2 cup H20 to 1 tbsp of distilled vinegar. I started with the distilled water (which should read 7 - neutral) and the calibration was off from the get-go. My analog probe read it correctly, but the digital read it at 4.2 pH. If you purchase run this experiment to see if the sensor is working for you.

Very helpful tool for gardeners. Easy to use. Just put in the soil and read desired results. Compact. One tool provides information for ph, wetness, light and temperature. Temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Truely a wonderful gadget for the serious gardener. Don't know how I gardened without it. Makes a wonderful addition to your own garden tools or as a gift for a gardener.
