My Experience With This Product
I received this product a couple of days ago to go in my small man-made pond. I had no idea what to do with it because there were no instructions. The bag is full of small rocks and soil (like dirt). The product description says you can put it in water for water lilies. I packed an aquatic container with the lily and the contents of the soil. I then placed it in the pond and watched the soil/dirt dissolve into the water and create a muddy mess. I quickly removed it and let it sit in a bowl of water for a couple of days. I then noticed a clay-like mixture start to form. When I placed it back into the water, there wasn't as much mud, and after a few minutes, it was good. I'm anxious to see if my lily thrives in it.

Not for seeds
It may have been my fault. I put it at the bottom of the pond for the seeds I was growing. When I added the water, it got all cloudy with dirt particles. I guess you need to get it wet first and then add water. There is much rock in it, seems more rock than dirt to me. I'm not sure I like it, and I couldn't use it for the seeds. I think you have to use it when the plants are already established.

I wouldn’t recommend
I received this today. Now I will start off I am not well versed in growing lotus plants, in fact it’s my first time. After doing some more research which I should have done to begin with I found this was not the best to go with. It actually ended a very muddy mess but I found if I had put a top planting media it maybe would have worked out better. But all in all I think I will try another soil and use the correct method of soil and potting media.

Good quality, heavy.
This is a small package. I was surprised at how little it takes of this soil to weigh so much. So remember, you are buying by weight not volume. That said, I used this to plant some tropical plants. It tends to be in clumps but can be broken up into soil pieces (unlike real clay), so fairly easy to work with. I cannot attest to it's effectiveness as yet. Too early to tell.
