Look No Further !!
I've been experimenting with a few different types/brands of double-edge safety razors. The last handle I tried was a Feather DE, that has two settings for aggressiveness. I bought the Feather through eBay and I found it a very good handle, well balanced and it worked well with both the Astra and Feather blades I put through it.I asked the seller about what he preferred and was told the Henson AL13 was the hands-down favorite. I gave the Feather handle a week or so, and decided to go ahead and take the plunge and buy the Henson, even though at $80 it seemed a bit on the pricey side. I gave it the first 'test run' after showering tonight, and loaded it with the RK blades that were included.Wow !! This handle had perfect balance and just slid down my face with no weight on it, other than its own. Awesome shave, period. I love the open combs on it and they rinse out with no problem at all. This alone would have sold me, but the balance, weight and ease of use by far, exceeded all other handles I've tried. The shave was perfectly close with no need to use an after shave balm.I'm sold and by the looks and design of this razor, it will last a long time. It is obviously a razor designed by engineers (like myself) at that carries completely through the product. For the record, I use Van Der Hagen luxury scent shave soap with a Viking Boar's Bristle brush. Now, I'll be shelling out a few more $$ to get one for the better half.Don't hesitate to buy one of these, and the price is well worth it for an excellent shave.

Worth the money - don't waste your time, money, and face on cheaper ones
I was in the market for a shaver which wouldn't add much to the landfill and plastics problem. Many shavers today have too many blades and plastic parts which eventually just get thrown away. I liked this one when I saw it online, but it seemed too expensive, so I bought a cheaper one. Using the cheaper one felt like a hacksaw on my face, so I eventually relented and coughed up the money for this one. That was a good move. I tried it right away and I loved how much lighter and more maneuverable it is...and no nicks, burns, abrasions, etc., ... and with a single blade! I have used it twice since (once in the shower), and it continues to perform extremely well. It leaves my face smooth without inflicting any pain or discomfort.I really appreciate the engineering effort that went into the blade angle, channels, etc. And I like the way it looks and handles. This is a great product. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money for this razor. You won't regret it.

A great safety Razor for Getting into Double Edge Razors/Wet Shaving
As a guy closing in on 50, shaving has always been something I've taken for granted and never considered spending more time than necessary. Disposable razors and Barbasol foam fit the bill and got the job done. This Hansen Razor was a Father's day gift from my oldest son, who did the research on razors and "wet shaving". It has been a quality of life game changer! While I could opine on the Proraso Green shave products in another review (they're great), the benefits of an Alum block, as well as my experience with various razor blades (Bic Platinum, Shark Stainless and Gillette "no-name" have worked best for me, but YMMV), I'll stick with just my thoughts on the Hansen Razor. The Hansen Razor, AL-13 Mild, has made the transition to double-edge from disposable razors pretty easy. The longer handle fits your hand similarly to a disposable razor, and the aluminum alloy gives it a similar weight. The real engineering feat with this razor is that it holds any blade at the right angle making it east to engage a close shave, making it very forgiving in allowing you to get a close shave coming from disposable razors. Unlike Cartridge and disposable Razors, Double-Edge razors do not have a pivot head, so shaving requires some practice to getting under the chin, nose, behind the ear etc... I've never had any "incidents" shaving, other than a nick or two with blades that weren't a good fit for me. Over the last few months, my technique has improved. The RK Blades that come with the Hansen Razor, ironically, have been the worst ones, but it seems that the best blade for your skin may vary. If you purchase this razor, I'd suggest getting a DE Razor assortment to see what blades work best for you. With the right blades, the Hansen AL-13 shaves as well, and more gently, than the disposable razors I've used through the years. I recently added a Parker 4 piece travel razor which is more "aggressive" to my shave kit (it shaves closer, have had slightly more razor burn using the same razor), and can see where the Hansen is more forgiving while still giving a close shave. I'll note for this review, there is a Hansen AL-13 Medium razor, and with my experience with the travel razor, I would likely have been as comfortable had the AL-13 medium been purchased instead.Overall, you cannot go wrong with the Hansen AL-13 as your first, or only, double edge razor. It's made my daily shaving experience on par with the straight edge shaves I used to enjoy when I lived in NYC at a fraction of the price and on a daily basis. Shaving is now something that "I get to do", rather than something "I have to do". If you're looking to get into double edge razors, this Hansen is a great place to start!

It's a high quality razor and it eliminates razor burn when you use it correctly.
I bought this item for my dad for Father's Day and I decided to try it for myself to make sure it was good quality. I absolutely loved it and bought a special edition one that you can only get on the company website. It works very well and is very comfortable to use. The blades are very easy to swap out with a new one and with them being so cheap you can swap them out without worry. A hundred of them only cost $10 and that will last you 2 years if you use one a week! I will never go back to a disposable.

Amazing Razor, Terrible Blades
Absolutely amazing razor. Durable, light, great design, easy to take apart, perfect cut, haven’t cut myself once. This platform is the real deal and I suspect it will last me a lifetime. HOWEVER, I cannot bring myself to give this product a 5 star rating because the blades it came with were so horribly terrible. Giving this razor anything but a 5 star is unfathomable when u put a real razor in, but the made in India razors it came with are so terrible and dull, it doesn’t even make sense how they could be that bad. It’s a tragedy cuz the actual unit is a 10/10. Henson, take a little loss in margins and throw a pack of Astra’s in, and this review is 6 stars. Just disappointing. But nonetheless they knocked it out of the park with the 13.
