One drop of water is sufficient to treat two square inches of tissue. Place a single drop of water, or more if required, on a clean non-absorbent surface such as an upturned drinking glass or stainless steel container. Gently stir the tip of a pencil/applicator in the drop of water for about 20 to 30 seconds. Silver nitrate from the tip is quickly dissolved in the water. Although the appearance of the water does not change, it is now rich in silver nitrate and any absorbent material (clothing, furniture etc.) that comes into contact with this water will turn black in time depending on exposure to light. There is no need to move quickly or finish within a certain time. Silver nitrate will continue to be dissolved as long as the unused tip remains in contact with water or body fluid. Touch the area to be treated with the wet tip so that silver nitrate solution is transferred to the area to be treated. Use light pressure, do not press or rub the area with the tip – silver nitrate is brittle and may break if too much pressure is applied. If the tip breaks, make sure you recover all pieces. Tweezers are the best way to do this. If the tip falls off, it can still be dissolved in water by holding it with tweezers. Take care to prevent solution wandering on to neighbouring skin by protecting the surrounding tissue with a barrier such as petroleum jelly. Transfer enough solution to cover all the area being treated. Allow the treated area to dry. After drying, treated granulation tissue will fall away. Repeat for remaining overgranulation. The treated surface layer of warts and verrucas should be filed away using a fine emery board, for some types of verruca it will be necessary to cut away the hard callous-like surface to get to the soft tissue underneath. Repeat this treatment for remaining wart/verruca tissue until the wart/verruca has gone. My son has had a very stubborn verruca on his big toe for several years that had grown to about the size of my thumb nail. I tried Bazuka extra strength, freezing it and duct tape but nothing would shift it. Having used this and removed the dead skin each time with a Newtons Chiropody Sponge it's actually gone. I applied it by using a small wet paint brush that I rubbed on the applicator tip then onto the verucca rather than wetting the actual tip and using that and its held up much better as there is less pressure with the paint brush. Nothing short of a miracle in my eyes! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 - 6 weeks *by K***C on 27 November 2019* Easy to use far too much water with this - and the tip WiLL break if you use too much force or apply it anything but vertically. As a fix for verucas? Bit meh tbh. The instructions suggest applying Vaseline to everywhere but the veruca - good luck with doing that on your foot, and not covering the veruca and all your hands fingers and foot in grease. So apply the silver nitrate water to the veruca - again, good luck in seeing where you’ve applied this clear liquid to your foot - and this takes ages to dry - like 20 minutes. I ended up using a hair dryer. Hot feet :( So it will probably go everywhere Your skin will go black and take 5 weeks to get to the flake off stage, yes, 5 or 6 weeks. Don’t pull it off else you’ll tear the skin and leave it open for re-infection :-/ As for filing it off with the joke emery board they include - forget it. Sprinkle veruca skin dust everywhere? Yeah lovely. The board isn’t up to much anyway. Basically - if you get a veruca, you’re in for a month or so of grief whatever you chose. It’s cheap, does work, maybe not in the way you expect.
