The Prepared 2 Protect P2P HDP 50, manufactured by Umarex USA, is a full-size CO₂-powered .50-caliber less-lethal launcher. I purchased several units because the price compared favorably with similar products, and I was impressed by the launcher’s overall appearance, engineering, grip, trigger, and durable construction. During my initial testing, two units performed very well with the correct 12-gram CO₂ cartridges. The integrated magazine holds six compatible rounds, and the on-demand CO₂ activation system allows the cartridge to remain unpunctured until the launcher is needed. Buyers should know that a CO₂ cartridge is not included and represents an additional purchase. My primary complaint concerns the included barrel-cleaning squeegee. The one packaged with one of my units arrived warped and cracked, then snapped during use. Its thin plastic construction feels disproportionately fragile compared with the otherwise solid launcher. The cleaning tool would benefit considerably from a stronger shaft and a more durable cleaning tip. The tools included with my other units were less problematic, but I would still like to see Umarex improve this component. BE WARNED - THIS CAN BE A DEADLY WEAPON. TREAT IT AS SUCH. I bought this gun for self protection after experiencing a rash of property invasions and several attempted break ins at my home and business. One night, the intruders thought I wasnt home and attempted to break in, when I was in fact home. This happened at 3am at night. I had left my phone in my car and was afraid to go out to retrieve it, not knowing if the intruders were out there or what they might do if I left the house to go outside. We have had a serious crime spree in my area...drug addicts breaking into stores...smashing into cars...its very bad. I was in fear for my life. I sat on my couch in the dark with this gun, ready to shoot if they broke in. I dozed off, and at 5am they tried to break into my front porch through an unlocked window. The sound startled me so severely that I was immediately jumped out of sleep, and with the gun in my hand, fired off a round reflexively. And heres the catch - I had loaded the gun with .50 caliber aluminum rounds. I used this ammo because I wanted a serious weapon, but something "less lethal." To make a long story short, I shot my own foot. The round penetrated deep into my foot above the ankle, just missing an artery. I am now recovering from major surgery and my foot may never be the same. This gun will fire any .50 caliber ammunition and do so with deadly force at close range. It is advertised as "less lethal" but it is and should be treated as a lethal weapon if you shoot anything but rubber bullets or pepper balls. Even with the rubber ammo, at close range it can penetrate flesh and be deadly, especially if shot at the face or head. So be warned. This is a serious weapon. You should be trained in handling firearms to use it safely. Otherwise, you may seriously injure or kill yourself or someone else. You have been warned.

Good news: Really cool and powerful, especially for just one cartridge surprisingly powerful! Bad news: Well, it lasted into the 9th month and now leaks out all the co2 right when you seize the cartridge. Have to send it back for repair or replacement on buyers protection plan.

Initially I loved this product as it was easy to use and quite powerful. I also liked the compact size. However, about halfway thru the third air cartridge it started to malfunction. I would pull the trigger for one shot, which would come out fine. But the next time I pulled the trigger it wouldn't shoot the ammo, it just let out a puff of air. I looked closely and noticed the loading latch came loose. I re-latched it and fired another shot, which came out fine. But again, the shot afterwards was just a puff of air. The latch had come loose again. This happened over and over. Finally, when it was out of air, I went to replace the cartridge. I unloaded the spent one, but when I loaded the new one it didn't have a hard stop as I screwed it in. It kept spinning and spinning, so I realized the threads are stripped. I wasn't able to unwind it, so I will never be able to remove the cartridge that is currently loaded. I sent it back to Umarex and it took them over two weeks to replace. When I received my replacement it lasted exactly three cartridges before having the same issues and the threads stripping again! Either they just disassembled/reassembled my old one and shipped it back to me or these are just junk! The third one they sent literally exploded while sitting on my office desk in the middle of the night! And it wasn't the air cartridge that exploded. It was in tact, but the gun exploded into six pieces, shearing the bolts off. Nobody had touched it since the morning before, so this item is a serious safety risk. I sent a message to the same customer service agent who I dealt with previously to report this serious matter. They have ignored my emails and have zero interest in investigating what caused their product to explode. I'm just thankful it didn't explode when anyone was near it, because if there had been it would have caused serious injury.

Great for self defense loud and powerful way more than I would have thought

I'm inpressed with the power and the accuracy of this weapon. It is a great choice for a non-lethal self-defense weapon. The tap to activate the CO2 cartridge is ingenious. It's easily done. Which means you have a fresh CO2 cartridge when you need it the most. If you need a device like this it's an awesome choice.
