Worth it for my workflow.
It was time to build a new PC. Until I saw the prices of DDR5 (and DDR4) RAM. And what the hell is the deal with storage prices too? Oof! Instead of a new computer, I decided to just upgrade my AM4 motherboard with this beast! But then ended up just building it out from all new parts. I know it's end of life technically, but with this, I feel good about at least another 3-5 years... Hopefully RAMaggeden will have ended with the bursting of the AI bubble by then. In my retirement, I process raw drone photos and videos, raw astronomy and astrophotography data, 3d modeling and printing, and of course, I do gaming too, including PC VR games. These hobbies can be hard on the wallet, but also very taxing on CPU's and GPU's. This CPU is seriously up to the task but only with a motherboard that is compatible with the high power needs of the CPU (125 watts). Both plugs on the top left of the board should be plugged in. IYKYK, if you don't know what I mean, please look it up before you buy this. Its 16 cores and 32 threads rip though everything I throw at. Overclocking was easy enough, and done very carefully of course. It's great for photo and video processing and 3d rendering, but in reality it's probably about twice what anyone would need for gaming. I really wish I had bought this, or something similar, way earlier in the AM4 lifecycle. I didn't realize what I was missing out on. At the time I bought this it was cheaper than an AM5 "equivalent", so double check and compare first. For me, in Jan and Feb of 2026, this was the better cost to performance ratio for the work I do with it. For those that are curious, my build is this Ryzen 9 5900XT CPU overclocked up to 5.25MHz (figure your own math), under volted which helps with overclocking and cooling. I worked slowly and carefully to make mine very stable but fast. Remember, this is all at your own risk, and it actually really did run great at stock settings. Because I knew hear can be an issue with big processors like this, I got a 360mm, 3 fan and radiator water-cooled system, and with a total of 13 fans in the case (including the 2 fans over my RAM sticks), this machine has never exceeded 65-68ยฐC on any benchmark tests I've run. Matching 16Gb x 4 sticks (64Gb total) 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, XFX Swift OC 9060XT 16Gb VRAM GPU, Asus ROG Strix B550 motherboard, with a Rosewill 850 Watt+80 Gold PSU (power supply unit) with the higher quality Japanese internals. 1-1Tb m.2 NVME, 1-4Tb m.2 NVME and 1 old school 4Tb SATA HDD for stable cold storage of processed data, photos and videos and lesser used or older games. The sum of all the parts let's me render 3d in minutes, process nebulae and galaxies and drone images flawlessly and quickly. I also have the benefit of gaming most triple a titles and e-sports at 1440p well over 75 fps (lowest) on ultra and high settings, Ray tracing, FSR, all on (no path tracing though, I never like that setting). Cyberpunk, COD, Fortnite, Black Myth, Skyrim, Requiem, Ready or Not, flat and VR versions, etc. I've even dabbled a little in 4K's lower settings. I love this CPU! (Yes, I know, the GPU too.) If this fits your needs, and the price is right, it just might be what you need to extend your computers' usefulness another 3-5 years.

Perfect home server CPU for AM4
A very powerful processor but with very little documentation. If you are on AM4 and want a server CPU, this will do just fine. For gaming, get an X3D as the split CCDs on this will make it equal to an 8-core system. Caveats: - Will never reach boost of 4.8 GHz even on single core - All core boost varies widely by load (SSE: 4.1 GHz, AVX: 3.6-4.0 GHz, AVX2: 3.3-3.6 GHz) - Power limited on A and B boards - Split CCD means full 16 core load performance will suffer but 2 8 Core loads will be perfect Perks: - High core count for transcoding, compression, encryption, etc. - Low power usage for given cores (130 Watts compared to 65 watt 8 core, linear scale)

Monster 16 core CPU!
Monster CPU and 2nd fastest for the AM4 socket. Riding out this socket in style! Great gaming with this and a AMD RT 9060 XT 16GB. A++++

A significant upgrade over the 3600
I thought my 3600 was adequate and I guess I wasn't wrong, it was adequate. This processor is anything but adequate, it's amazing. Everything just loads and renders so much quicker. Everything looks smooth. I can't imagine going back. I reused my Noctua cooler from my 3600 and it's been able to keep this CPU cool while remaining whisper quiet. I've seen some reviews of people getting used computer equipment from amazon, I made sure to check all the pins and video tape myself opening the package. Fortunately everything was exactly where it needed to be and I received exactly what I ordered.

GREAT PURCHASE FOR THE PRICE !
This is an excellent product that matches the expectations I had for it. It's great for multitasking specifically and if you're going to be using OBS and playing video games at the same time, amongst other multi core processes.

Excellent, but hot..
Excellent. It does run hot though so you will need a 3fan water cooler. 1fan wonโt work. I had a 1 fan water cooler on this and it was hitting red reaching temp over 90d.. and once you installed a 3fan cooler on this bad boy, you donโt have to do any performance management nor bios voltage edit.

Works great!
Got it on sale for about 35% off and it's been worth every penny so far when paired with my 12GB RTX 3060 and 32gb 2700mhz ram.

Fast CPU, does run hot
Fast CPU, does run very hot. Apps all load pretty much instantly now, thanks to it's 73 megs of cache. Very smooth CPU. Update** Undervolted all cores with a slight .06 offset and system is very stable running significantly cooler. Update 2** I didn't feel like I was getting the performance I desired while this CPU was Undervolted so I upgraded to a 360 mil AIO cooler and set the CPU turbo mode back to "auto", now I feel like I'm getting great performance. This is a beast of a CPU and it runs very hot without an undervolt. A 360 mil cooler is highly recommended to get good performance out of this CPU. My CPU now peaks at 78 degrees C, was peaking at 90 with my air cooler. Just shows how hot this CPU runs. Granted the load that I give my CPU is just standard load running multiple games, not a full CPU load benchmarking software load. So 78 degrees C with a 360 mil AIO cooler under a medium load, CPU runs hot, very very hot. 420 mil cooler would probably do a bit better. You will get the most performance out of the CPU with a strong cooling solution. Stability will improve as well.

procesador bastante potente aun hoy en dรญa.

Amazing Processor
Placed order, item came a week earlier then expected and installed with a Noctua D12l and got running the day of delivery. I upgraded from a 3600 so the difference is insane. Render times are about halved and it is definitely something to see all 16 cores put to use. If you are trying to extend the life of an AM4 platform or holding out for AM6, I would definitely recommend upgrading to this chip which will still be a beast for another few years. 9950x 50% faster on average in multicore workloads but factor in the cost of ram and mobo upgrades and I would argue itโs not worth it.

Best price performance for AM4 mothboard, almost no different with my other 5950x PC!
Got it on as a deal, upgrade to my 4750G. This is a business workload CPU with 16 core/ 32 threads. Best for demand programs like video and graphic editing. Very robust on heavy work load. If you are like me have 100+ open tabs on browsers. This CPU is for you. I paired with a twin tower air cooler, I bought from Amazon, even it is a high end CPU. It's Max. temperature is around 70deg, as cool as Joe Cool. But you can always get a AIO water cooler to keep it cooler. Compare to my other 5950x, it is may be 3-5% slower, but won't feel it unless you are running some benchmark software. Get this if you have a weaker CPU on AM4 as an upgrade. Get it if you would like a new build on AM4. 5 out 5, both on price and performance.
