Review: Positive role model - Second volume in the series of paperbacks that collect issue of the comic 'Geiger'. A post apocalyptic drama about a man in the post nuclear devastation world with rather special abilities. This collects the six issues of the second mini series for the character. Plus one story from a special issue featuring him. It's not really a jumping on point as you will miss a lot of his backstory if you don't read volume one. So new readers should start there. Regular ones read on. This can be rather violent and graphic with it. If it was a film it would be a fifteen certificate. Thus better for older readers. All the issues are divided up with chapter pages so you can see where one starts and ends. There's a gallery of covers from the issues at back. In this volume, Geiger just wants to be left alone. But he finds he's inspired someone. Former Nuclear Knight Nate. A rather annoying man because he doesn't shut up. But he gives Geiger a lead to a possible cure for his condition. A journey follows..... I gave the first volume four stars because it was good but not stand out. But this one really hit home. So it rates five. Nate can be annoying but he's a very three dimensional creation with a lot of depth. And he does have some very good moments when he isn't annoying. So he really is a very memorable creation. There's some other scenes in here that hit home also, emotion wise. So this volume is thus not one you will forget in a hurry. The story doesn't finish because the journey isn't done by the end. But as a volume it is relatively self contained even so. One other thing that worked for me. I didn't find the hints of a bigger back story in the first one desperately interesting. But apart from a couple of brief scenes in this, that didn't come into it all. Thus since it was more focused on Geiger's story, it just held me more. Those scenes you won't have a problem understanding if you're not reading other comics from this publisher. Added to which of course it's once again got art by Gary Frank. Who is always amazing. So it's a pleasure to see more stuff from him. Great colouring too. A really good volume. I look forward to more. Review: Geiger is back! - Geiger returns with a new ongoing series from Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, Brad Anderson and Rob Leigh, with Tariq Geiger, Nate the Nuclear Knigjt and Barney searching for another glowing man and for a cure, as sisal Geoff johns delivers us a superb story in the first 6 issues with new villains, old adversaries and new characters and with it is Gary Frank’s gorgeous art.

Artwork - excellent, story is just as good. A great continuation of the first volume. I recommend to anyone who wants/needs and alternative to traditional DC/Marvel heroes.
