The Glengarry is a Scottish bonnet with a military flair. This cap is said to have been invented by McDonnell of Glengarry for King George IV's 1828 visit to the highlands. Glengarries have been part of British Army uniform since 1851. The Randwulf's Glengarry Bonnet Pattern is printed on a 24 by 28-inch sheet with detailed, illustrated directions. Unlike commercially produced glengarries (which are made of knit hoods shaped over a wooden block), the Randwulf's Glengarry pattern shows you how to form the distinct crown shape with seams using an ordinary sewing machine.

GlenGarry Hat for the march for St. Patrick's Day
I made a glengarry hat once without a pattern, but this time my family from England sent me theright fabric for my little dashchunds outfit for the parade and mine. I wanted desperately to usethis fabric and make the best GlenGarry hat, and guess what Amazon had a pattern, and I simply laid it out on the fabric and ran a chalk around the pattern and cut the fabric and sewed, now a Glengarry hat has to have some filler in the sides to make it stand on your head, so I took one of my old files, and cut it to fit on the sides and sewed in side a cover to hold the two sides, now a perfect Glengarry hat.Wonderful, it was easy and a child could use this pattern, it is so simply done...great idea Amazon.
