Nuke your rice & pasta! Easy, efficient, energy saving
Functional item at a good price. Not as stylish as, but as practical & cheaper than the „Joseph Joseph“ alternative (which melted in my microwave, admittedly probably because I forgot to dial down the power level). I use it for rice & pasta. It’s faster and more energy efficient than stove top or designated rice cooker. Plus, much to my surprise, the whole grain varieties also turn out best when I „nuke“ them.

Makes Rice...
It does the job. Steams up the microwave, but the rice gets cooked. Lost directions so didn’t have the rice to water ratio this one requires. Don’t use standard ratio of 2 cups of water to 1 cup rice, the rice is too wet that way. If I get another one it will be one with handles on the side, Not this one.

Follow instructions carefully for excellent rice
I was so fed up with rice boiling over on the stove that I decided this was worth a try. I'm surprised at how well my rice came out, the texture was great. I'm definitely making all my rice in this from now on. It takes about the same amount of time. Some other reviewers had disasters so I'm wondering why my experience was so different. I noticed that the instructions for use are very specific, so I followed them precisely. My guess at what is going wrong for some users: 1. The lid is not to be used when cooking rice. I guess that's for storage, then? Anyway, for rice, you put the water and rice in the main bowl, and then top it with the steaming/rinsing insert instead of a lid. I think this prevents boilovers. 2. The included a measuring cup doesn't match other measuring cups you may have. It's a traditional Japanese rice measure. The instructions contain measures for using that cup, or for using standard U.S. kitchen measuring cups, either is fine. But if you measure rice with one, and water with the other, your proportions will be off and your rice will come out too wet or too dry. Don't mix & match -- use either the included cup, or your own, for both rice and water. 3. Wattage matters. It says "for microwaves of 1000 watts or greater cook at 70% power." I had to find out my wattage before using the cooker. Turns out it's 1000, so I had to reduce power. If I had cooked it on 100% power, maybe I would have had the melting problem someone else reported. My microwave is old, many newer ones are far more powerful than 1000 watts, so definitely owners of those need to reduce power. I'm happy with this. I will note that you'll want to use potholders to remove the lid after the 5-minute post-cooking sit. There is plenty of steam waiting to come out, so be careful. I just use this for rice, can't comment on steaming other foods. But it certainly does a good job of what it's marketed for.

Adequate for the Job
We have found that for the most part one must cook the rice longer than noted in the little booklet. Also, for some reason the lid is not used during cooking - we wonder if we could cook with it on but can’t find an answer to this.

Two Stars
The liquid spills over and makes a mess cooking just one cup.

After seeing the product reviews on Youtube, I purchased this particular microwave rice cooker b/c I didn't want a separate appliance with the limited counter-space that I have. I found the timing of rice cooking as suggested by the product insert was a little off for my tastes, plus the "rice-steam" would make a mess in my microwave. For sticky rice, using the white cup provided, I find the following works like a charm with little-to-no mess: 2 cups jasmine rice, 3 cups water, 7 (out of 10) power, and 8-10 mins. Cheers!

Quick and easy to cook rice. A little bit of expirementing to get right times and power levels for my microwave, but once that was solved rice turns out good.

I had a tough time finding a good one that doesn't stain or has too many attachments, this one simple.
