These seeds are packed wonderfully and I am pleased to have them. I feel confident that the packaging that they are in will keep them fresh and viable for future years. I love also that these are heirloom vegetables so that I may also harvest seeds to use in the future and to give to others. Great variety too!

This is a nice collection of seeds with planting suggestions on each pack and also on a card enclosed in the bucket. You also get a bunch of plastic sticks for marking your pots. BUT, no where on the packages did I find a "freshness" date. The seeds are packed in foil, but we all know that germination rates decrease the older the seed so I would think a date is important to have. With 50 different plants, you have to accept the bad with the good, though most of them are something I would plant (not turnips or brussel sprouts!). It's difficult to compare these with the ones in the store (if you could find them) because you really don't know how many seeds you get, though I think there is enough swiss chard and kohlrabi to last me a life time. I think this would be great for the classroom where each kid could pick their own seeds and learn how to plant them. This is a nice collection though offered by a family farm according to the nice story about them in the package and I wish them the best of luck in their new venture.

Please make sure that there are seeds in all your packages. Some of mines packages fell out into the boxes so I didn't get to enjoy the full collections of seeds.

This seed supply kit for home survival use is just what I was looking for! This kit is far better than many others you can find on the market, and would make a great gift for the home vegetable gardener. It could even inspire a beginner to expand over time.This kit has a wealth of different vegetable and melon seeds. It even has a couple of herbs that many find needful in the kitchen. There are even some wonderful seeds that I found a bit surprising but will certainly help your grow a rainbow of produce.It is July in zone 6b, so I am getting in my late beets, carrots, radishes, and fall lettuces. The germination rate has been far better than the 80 percent claimed. I am overjoyed by their performance thus far.The seeds themselves are stored in mylar pouches that close like a zip lock bag. If you use care when opening the bucket lid it keeps out water. I have full confidence that if kept in a relatively cool, mostly dry place these seeds would keep for a long time and some would still germinate.I find this kit of far better quality than one I was lifted four years ago. I prefer the plastic bucket to a metal canister. I prefer the mylar bags to plastic ones, and having heirloom seeds is important for future harvests. They also have a growing guide and other information on their website. I hope to find growing, harvesting produce, as well as seed harvesting tips there.I cannot speak to taste of the produce grown. I can only say the plants are growing. But should some of these seed varieties not grow or wind up being of poor quality I will amend this return.For under $60.00 US at the time of this review, it is not a bad price for the variety and sheer amount of seeds that you get.
