Recon Everyday Laptop Backpack, Blk/Blk-NPF, One Size

I ordered this for my 9th grader for school this year. Shipping was delayed, so I ordered another hoping at least one would get here before school started. Turns out they arrived on the same day - which worked out really well because my husband looked at it and wanted it too! So we kept both!! Durable construction as always with North Face. Lots of room for storage - all school stuff for my son, including a laptop compartment. My husband loves it for his work out clothes and work necessities all in one place. Comfortable to wear with padding on back and on straps. Side pockets bit enough for Owalas. Love the organization of the pockets and the soft inside of the sunglasses pocket!

I purchased this backpack for our family vacation to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks this summer. This was the perfect backpack for our day hikes and on the plane while traveling. I had this same model backpack during college 25 years ago and it's the perfect backpack for commuting, hiking, traveling, and work. The multiple pockets are perfect for storing all your essential items, the padding makes it extra comfortable, the material is durable, and the straps make it highly adjustable.

Great quality. Perfect muted blue for a teen boy. Fits the school laptop, a few binders, good size water bottle pockets on side. There is a bit more rigid/firm support to the back almost more like a hiking pack, but this likely helps protect the laptop.

After 15+ years of near-daily use, my TNF messenger bag was showing some wear. Decided to go with a backpack to better equalize the load. After trying and returning a cheaper TNF model, this one made the cut in spades - lots of small and thoughtful features, very comfortable for extended use (I have a long torso and very wide shoulders - hard to find a daily backpack that can accommodate that) and highly adaptable for mods. I wish TNF would've kept the luggage handle passthroughs on their travel backpacks, but $20 of webbing and G-hooks fixed that by utilizing the extra gear loops on the sides of the back panel - works perfect even with full loads, as the bag is well-balanced. Overall very satisfied and I hope it lasts as long as my previous bag.

Almost perfect. This backpack has the space I need and I really like the pockets for drinks and water bottles. They are oversized so my bottles don’t fall out! Now the second zipper compartment is what needs some work on how it is sewn. Because of how the first and second sit and how it is structured the first compartment makes my backpack “top heavy” and it ALWAYS falls forward. In fact it’s absolutely annoying. The other part is the hardback component is necessary to give the back pack support, however it is sewn with absolutely zero flexibility which hinders the bag from being able to sit squarely and so it can help prevent falling forward. If the hard backing was even 1-2 inches shorter and not sewn into the seams, this would allow some flexibility and help the bag stabilize. I use this bag daily…. And I wish these were things that I fix easily myself so this bag could be functional as well as sit on a table or bench without tipping over every time.

This was a gift for my wife, and I bought a gray one for myself. We like them a lot. We both use them on a daily basis, both for everyday use and for outdoor trips. The dedicated laptop/tablet compartment is especially useful. We like their aesthetics, capacity, and versatility. I added a bungee cord, some extra padding to the laptop compartment, and two tactical pouches to mine to increase its functionality. After considerable use and abuse, they still look like new. Excellent product.

I just received my North Face Recon backpack, and I have to say, it looks fantastic! I've always been a big fan of North Face backpacks because of their quality and durability. My previous North Face backpack wasn't a Recon, but it lasted me around 7–9 years before the zipper finally gave out. It served me incredibly well, so choosing another North Face for an upgrade was an easy decision. So far, I'm very impressed with the Recon's design and build quality. I'm hoping this backpack lasts even longer than my last one. I can't wait to take it on new adventures and explore new places! 🎒🧭🏞️🌄

Just took this on a little train tour of Italy and Switzerland. Comfortable on the back even when full and carrying some weight (water bottles on the sides, etc). Pockets are all useful and well-thought out - accessible and apportioned for what you'd expect to need. Don't know about durability yet on this model but other North Face backpacks have fared well - my last one I had for well over ten years. Recommend this bag without reservation.

Bigger than i thought, it's comfortable to use and very spacious.

Durable bag. Inside of the bag is like a cooler. It cant just stand on its own. Bottom is not structured to hold its position.

I needed to decide the North Face Recon and the Osprey Nebula. The North Face has better Features and esprecially the Hip Strap is better thought through. I only choose the Osprey because of its 4L bigger size. If they were the same size, I'd have taken the North Face.

Came stained it has what looks to be yellow marker on the mesh pocket and blue rubbed on the bottom. Possibly a used bag.
