Viking lift
Outstanding. Best device ever for pickup and suv. One tiny issue with winch, remove wire rope, replace with nylon winch belt....best thing since light bulb.

Great design and concept and even better with some refinement.
I bought this as a return from Amazon at a slightly reduced price. It came pretty beat up and also with a broken weld which I was able to fix. The winch attachment is a pain . A little tape held things in the wrench and worked for me. As for refinements , I replaced the two all thread bolts for the rollers with two 1/2" shoulder bolts with lock nuts so the rollers would turn on a smooth shafts. Second I removed the tangle prone wire cable and hook and replaced it with 25 foot of ATV winch rope and a 400# + rated carabiner. The cable change is the most important but these two changes make it function smoothly. It works exactly as designed and does it well. Remember to strap down your load. I would have given this five stars but because the one I received was beat up so bad and had the broken weld and was not advertised as damaged , they lose a star.

Best crane for the money
This winch is not hard to assemble. At first I bolted the winch on upside down. I have short fingers and I still had no trouble reaching the bolt hole inside the square tube. I taped the nut on inside the tube just to get it started, then had to take it back out when I noticed the winch upside down. It lifts a about a 120 lb trencher for me with no problem. Anything you lift. should be strapped on to the platform. I gave it a 4 rating because I believe the cranes with a stabilizing leg on the ground would probably be more stable. I really don't need that for my trencher and this equipment goes together with in 1 minute. I would buy this again instead of any other for my needs.

Great for my Grand Cherokee
I unboxed and assembled this lift today. It seems very heavy duty so it should last a long time. The assembly was easy EXCEPT attaching the winch. (It's very difficult to hold on to the bolt, washer and nut with your fingers inside the tube). After assembly I attached it to the hitch of my 2015 Grand Cherokee. It sticks out far enough to be able to open the liftgate while it is on the vehicle and the platform swings all the way in to unload gear. I have some back problems, and unless I have somebody to help me I can't load my hundred plus pound generator or a heavy cooler myself. I can't wait to use this!

The two bolts that hold the winch onto the top bar are very difficult to install
Overall, this product is great! Works as advertised, but it is difficult to attach the winch to the top bar. I'll be using this product to lift whatever in need to into the back of my truck.

I want to love this contraption, but viking solutions makes it really hard to do so.
The concept of this rig is simply brilliant. It's a 54lb rig that breaks down into three easy to manage components. And setup and teardown can be accomplished in less than two minutes. I havent used mine yet, but I have no reason to believe that it wont work as advertised. I expect that it will work to my satisfaction. So why 3 stars? It's all down to the manufacturing. This thing was literally produced in a factory somewhere deep in the interior of China with a dirt floor and some seriously hokey production equipment. Probably by some seriously underpaid child labor. Was it hard to put together? That's a matter of perspective. There's not enough to it to BE very difficult to put together. So technically, no it wasn't hard. But with that said, its difficult to Express how much harder assembling this thing was than it needed to be, which in the end was just infuriating. It should have taken just a few minutes to assemble. Instead it took me nearly 45 minutes with friggin around compensating for terrible manufacturing. And I didn't even have a problem installing the winch, be cause I have a box end wrench and a roll of tape, and I know how to use them. But there were plenty of other inconceivably stupid manufacturing defects that needed to be compensated for. The bottom line is this. They opted for thee cheapest manufacturing they cold get, barr none. And for 200, honestly, harbor freight produces considerably better products. This reminds me of stuff harbor freight was producing like 15 to 20 years ago. I certainly would expect better for the money. Now with all that said, do I believe this will do exactly what I want it to do? You bet. It's really so simple, even poor manufacturing can't screw the final results up too bad. In fact, if they would put a little more into producing a more polished product, I would pay the extra dollars and give this 5 stars all day long.

It works, but is limited in height.
The system works very good. But it’s not quite tall enough if your truck is raised at all. So it needs to have a longer shaft that goes to the winch. I will weld one on myself and then I’m sure it will be adequate. The other thing I would suggest is that the platform is not made of wire, but a solid sheet of metal. Easier for moving things on and off.

It is a little unstable with a live animal on it.
We have a 90 lb rottweiler/ lab mix dog. He loves to go but cant jump into the bed of our ford f250 super duty. Now, he walks on to the platform gets on, lays down and up he goes, then we rotate it into the bed and he knows its time to walk into the bed. It is sligjtly unstable when he walks off of it, but I keep my hand on it to keep it from rotating back around and we are fine. It has changed our lives. Now, our best friend can go wherever we go. It takes about 2 minutes to mount to the truck. I am a 65 yr old female and it isnt too heavy for me to assemble on the truck. We did do some small changes to the lift, like cutting off some of the cable on the pully. It got tangled a lot so we shortened it and it made a positive difference. We also have a 4 door jeep wrangler that it is used on, but storing the platform in the back floorboard was a problem, so where the 2 bolts attach it to the lift frame, we put hitch pins in so we can take it apart quickly for quick trips. Overall, I would give it ten stars if i could.

Terrible Quality; Do not buy!
Beware of buying! The package came in looking like it was used! Tons of scratches and rust everywhere on the frame. Had to file a return on the item. Terrible quality and longevity are unknown.
