wonderful read. comfort book!

Cat lovers will enjoy this charming collection of stories about how cats can change lives. It is translated from the original Japanese and I think some things may have been lost in translation because some details in the story were sometimes unclear. However, overall, I'm glad I read the book and would be interested in reading the next in the series when it comes out. There is a bit of magical realism to the book which becomes more evident in the last story.

I had high hopes for this book because I love cats and Japanese literature. But I found this book to be frustrating, especially the last chapter. I kept getting confused by the names of the characters, as they would continually alternate addressing characters by last names and then by first names. It might actually be a quaint little book, but reading it felt very disjointed for this reason. I have read a ton of Japanese literature - old and new - and have never experienced this problem with keeping character names straight.

If you didn’t love cats before, you will now. An adorable collection of connected stories. The translation is good, although there is at least one concept that either doesn’t translate or isn’t adequately expressed.

The story tells of how multiple different humans and those close to them become something more after being prescribed a cat from a mysterious shelter. There are some mystical elements about the cats and the shelter that were fascinating but overall I was here for the stories and watching the humans develop. The artistry of the cats helps allure you but I wouldn't say the focus is on the cats. I will say there are some emotional moments sprinkler throughout that surprised me and shook me (and made me hold my furry friends extra close too).

I got hooked on this sweet book, bought the second, cannot wait until the third comes out! So fun and feel good!

Ujętego w sposób, który tkwi na granicy bagatelizowania, a wszystko dlatego że lekarstwem na problemy dzisiejszego świata okazują się... koty. Kim jednak jestem, by to kwestionować, skoro i w mojej terapii miały one znaczące miejsce? Ważne, że w tych opowiadaniach się sprawdzają, a klinika doktora Suda Kokoro nie jest kliniką psychiatryczną, więc nie oczekujemy od niej fachowego podejścia. Pojawia się i znika, znacząco odchodzi od normy. To miejsce niezwykłe, a niezwykłość ta nie jest niejasny pomysłem autorki i jej koncept ogólnie mi się spodobał. Jak cała reszta. Była to jedna z ciekawszych powieści z tej półki. A wydanie w twardej oprawie? PIĘKNE.

This book is lovely. The people in the story all have A problem coping in society or sleep deprived. They visit a hidden clinic and are given a shelter cat for 7 days.and then told to return it . They all end up keeping the cats . Beautifully. Written Story .

Was given to me as a gift, and I absolutely love it. More "mystical" than I expected, but in a very good way. Author clearly understands cats and their varying moods and characters, and the possibilities of finding love, happiness and comfort within yourself, when given the right circumstances. A wonderful, heartwarming, comforting book. Will now buy the next book.
