They were easy to install, though I would highly recommend gloves since the bottoms are quite sharp and can tear up your fingers. We also used a small rubber mallet to tap down and snap together. I cannot imagine trying to snap together by stomping or jumping. Since the tiles are semi rigid plastic, I would not recommend a hammer, but that would work (over stomping) if one is gentle. They arrived in 2'x2' squares already snapped together. Luckily that was the perfect workable size for us because dissembling/unsnapping them is not easy. They are very comfortable to walk on and, once snapped together, the junctions create an incredibly tight, smooth fit. They are stiff and sturdy, which is great when you don't want to sink into puddles, or need to place furniture on top of them. Lastly, we ordered green and they are beautiful. So much so that we immediately purchased another 40 count with plans for more. The elevation may not be as deep as we need in one area where the water intrusion is more problematic, but they are a beautiful, and functional flooring improvement to what we were dealing with. I thought they would be flexible, but they're totally stiff plastic.** A: I put these together to form a 4' x 9' sheet to deck my jon boat floor. I laid out the size needed to cut and marked it with a silver felt pen ( the tiles used are gray) along a straight edge. Once marked i used a 5 in. Grinder with a thin metal cut off blade along the marked line. It cuts fast and true but be aware that you will have cut edges that have melted plastic residue along the bottom of the cut line. A stiff wire brush removed most of the residue. Also be aware that this method is melting the plastic as it cuts and it can be very hot. Try not to touch it for a few seconds. I cut notches out of several areas to accommodate fixed equipment. It worked well but as with any power tool, exercise caution. **Q: do you have to leave gap on outside for heat expansion** A: If placing inside, then yes ½ to an inch gap **Q: Are the tiles able to be cut?** A: Yes. Tiles can be cut using a power saw and a fine tooth blade. **Q: Will these be ok on a basement floor that gets a few streams of water during heavy rain?
