I now like this product again after my initial pissy review. After dealing with a slow, stinky leak from the spigot, I contacted the company in Texas and someone emailed me back within a few hours, and told me to clean and tighten the spigot (duh), and to put a piece of paper towel at the bottom to catch any small particles of food (coffee grounds etc.) that might get caught in the valve. It seems to have done the trick. I'll gladly give this product five stars after a few more months with no other issues.Original edited review:So, I’ve had this thing two months, and I’ve drained it twice. Now, for some reason, the spigot at the bottom leaks and leaves a sludge puddle all over the floor, all the time.

Update: Reducing my stars from 2 to 1 because this product not only doesn't compost (even with the purchase of the accelerator) but is completely defective. The spigot leaks where it connects to the body of the unit. It not only smells but attracts bugs. By week three, the unit was full of maggots and completely ruined the table to was sitting on. We had to throw the whole thing out, which was extremely disappointing as the whole purpose was to reduce waste.Original review: Only giving this product two stars because the composter is a decent size and appears of good construction. However, it DOES NOT come with the spray. Based on the description, I had assumed this was for the composter plus spray with the option to buy “refills” in the future. With the spray being sold separately, this product is fairly useless and extremely overpriced.

I love the size of this product and its overall performance. I live in a community that has a composting service setup since we do not have yards to do so in ourselves. The size of this bin is perfect for one to two people who produce compost with almost every meal. I empty once or twice a week.However, I was having issues with the spout almost immediately after purchasing. First, even if I checked that I had the lever of the spout in the off position it would leak. For some reason this stopped occurring on its own. Then the hole for the spout started leaking. Nothing some silicone couldn't handle but it does make me feel like I may have spent my money on another composting bin that didn't leak. I'm still using it now that the leaking has stopped.

I read that the bin had an "airtight seal", however, the grooves on the bin & the grooves on the lid do not match up, so it does not seal at all. After seeking help for this issue & being ignored, I also experienced the joy of having compost liquid leaked onto the floor, twice in 1 month. I would love nothing more than to return this product, but the return window conveniently closed after 30 days, so both compost & money were wasted. Even if this pos were free, it still would not be worth the time (& the smell}

Good in theory but not practice. Strainer is not small enough to keep particles out of the spout which causes the spout not to work.... disgusting when you have to dig in there. Would never buy again.

I bought this product a month ago and it starts to leak which seems to be a common issue. We were not home for 2 days and with the heat wave the smell horrible. Is there a way to fix this and get a new one or get refund? I'm not happy at all with this.

This is an expensive bucket that leaks. I purchased two of these for bokashi composting and both leak from the bottom and the spigot. This has hindered my first experience with bokashi.
