Fischer: The Violin Lesson: A Manual for Teaching and Self-Teaching the Violin (EP72151) (Edition Peters) : Simon Fischer: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: This book is extremely helpful. - It has taken me a little while to get around to picking this up after buying it, but what a revelation. Although only part way through, I am stunned at what I have learned already. The writer takes a logical and analytical approach to playing and listening. Such simple things as acknowledging that you have to make physical adjustments in the way you hold the violin to take account of your physical stature! My last two violin teachers -and the reason I stopped playing - tried to force me into positions that were not natural for me. No wonder I gave up. This book makes me look forward to picking up my violin. Review: Worth every penny!! - A truly invaluable source of information regarding the correct way to play the violin. Set out in a clear and concise fashion, this book will be a source of reference to myself for years to come. Worth every penny!!

A must have.
It's a very thorough book. Great read and a must have for all students. It's very well written and it flows in quite a logical order. It is a real eye opener, especially for people self teaching. It is seriously helped loads!. Just to be clear, it is a theory book mainly and doesn't have many examples to practice along to. I would recommend the scales book to go with.

Indispensible resource for the serious violinist
Wonderful resource for the advanced player, beginner and teacher alike. Clearly explained with photographs and diagrams, it covers everything from how to pick up the violin to the best way of practicing complex passages. The teaching guidance is rooted in the principles of the Alexander Technique ensuring a natural playing posture. Well indexed and cross referenced so it's easy to dip in and out of.

Fascinating but use judgement
Lots of interesting points and insights. Useful things even for an advanced player .... but discussion of vibrato is just plain wrong

El producto llegó rápido, bastantes días antes de lo previsto. El libro es de lectura obligada para aquellos que nos dedicamos al violín / viola y, sobre todo, para los docentes, los que enseñamos a tocar el instrumento. Muy recomendable.

I'm so happy I got all 4 of Simon Fischer Books. 1-The Basic, 2- The Violin Lesson, 3- Practice & 4- Scales. The books compliment each other, regardless of your learning level. I'm a beginner violin student. So far it has helped me finally begin to understand the bow hold. These books will help tremendously for those who are serious about learning the violin and or self teaching, to build a solid foundation along the journey of learning the violin. Fischer does a wonderful job of explaining in simple details with lots of photos to demonstrate. Thank You Simon for accomplished works. I highly recommend all of his books👍🏾
