The water level switch is sensitive so can stop the pump when there is still alot of water to pump out . . Attaching a long hose reduces the output pressure but still works well . Lowering into deep water or container you need to attach string to the handle .. overall , good value, powerful and quiet .

I purchased this pump to transfer clean water to an indoor pool - my ducklings are becoming avid swimmers now , growing rapidly, the pump is then used to remove the dirty water to an outside vessel , wich is then liberely dumped around my ' now looking jungle ' where the runner ducks shall run under cover from the hawks ' all this is possible with the foting 400 " excellent little pump ' buy one "

Works well and takes dirty water from a basement to a much lower level than other pumps I have used.

Bought for two purposes. The second one was to empty my small hot tub which would mean dropping it in and letting it do its own thing. The first “emergency” use was to pump flood water from a side passageway. Here I hit a problem which the very poor instructions didn’t point out. If you stand the pump on the ground under the flood water it won’t work. The float switch has to be tied up so it’s above the pump. I assumed if the float switch floated on top of the water, the pump would work. It doesn’t. So some faffing around, tieing up the float switch is necessary.

This is an amazing bit of kit! I wanted it to achieve two different tasks - the first was to take water from my well in the garden and put it in my pond. The second was i was hoping to stir up the sediment and pump that out( having got silly price quotes to remove it professionally.This pump is not quiet - it's silent! You lower it in on a rope and it switches on and pumps water at a fast rate. I then stirred the acumulated sediment with a long pole and the pump took care of that too - an absolute bargin and the best pump I've had! 5 stars +

Useless. Constantly cuts out due to the floating on off switch. Only pumps out so much but still leaves 8-10 inches deep water then refuses to pump any further. Don't waste your money.

What a brilliant bit of kit. Emptied our pond in no time, fast and quiet. Needed to fiddle a bit to get the float upright but minor issue. I used a flat hose connected with a jubilee clip and it worked perfectly once I unkinked the hose properly.
