Rough top; I expected better
Got this for my wife, here’s what she has to say: as lovely as this cutting board is, I honestly expected more, especially from this brand and at it’s price point (at the time of this review). Quality is good; however, the top is very rough and feels like you could get a splinter from it. It feels like it gets worse with washing (even after following the care instructions). When using a sharp knife if will cut the board. It is easy to clean. It’s a great size. Love the natural wood color. One star removed for quality of the top (rough and easy to cut through).

Decent cutting board with a couple shortcomings
I own several Caraway products already, but hadn't picked up their cutting boards yet. When this popped up in my Vine queue I immediately grabbed it. Sadly, this was just the one 17 x 12" board and not the complete set, but still good to check out.I found the board to be moderately useful. Sadly the edges are too curved and the large well at the top and hand grip cutouts really take most of the available space away from the cutting surface. In addition, the board did not really appear to be properly sealed yet - the wood still feels raw. I ended up having to scrub it and apply my own beeswax and mineral oil to protect it and the surface become noticeably darker, making me think my guess was correct. For the price of this board I would have expected it to already be properly sealed, and definitely heavier. This board is really too light for the price and is easily pushed around on the counter without putting a wet towel under it.Finally, the single board doesn't come with any sort of stand to keep it vertical, and with the rounded edges that makes the board very difficult to store properly.

Good quality
This is a very nice cutting board. I love that it is so light in color. I leave it behind my stove on display because I like it so much. It is a nice heavy duty board that should last a very long time. I have heard about this brand for a long time, but haven’t tried anything else. So far I am loving this board.

Lovely Cutting Board
Attractive cutting board by Caraway. Board is large enough (17"x12") for most tasks, except it has those depressions at the top row which are designed for their dot and dash containers that they make (according to a card that was included in the kit. However, I don't have those, so the depressions are more for setting aside any cut pieces of food. I prefer to remove them from the board and put them into bowls, myself. There are some nice indents on the underside to allow for easy grabbing - those are nice. The wood itself is excellent. Moderately thick, but not as thick as my other wood cutting board. I note that it is fairly dense, so it should stay put for the most part. The wood is ecologically well-sourced, so that is very good, too. After opening the package I noticed that the board seemed a bit dry, so I immediately applied mineral oil to it to plug its pores. The application of mineral oil is recommended by Caraway, but not necessarily before its first use, but I did that anyway. Otherwise, it is a sturdy board, so it should hold up to normal use. Also, I did add four rubber bumpers to the bottom corners as I cannot stand having the board sitting directly upon the countertop.I like this board and it will be frequently used for cutting of vegetables. I won't use it for meat or fish as I don't want to adulterate it with blood or grease.

Oil It Heavily
This cutting board is a generous size and is pretty hefty, but it's not so heavy that it's hard to lift one-handed. It did arrive very dry (we could see the little wood "hairs" on it), so I made sure to heavily oil it. I do this with all of my new wood cutting boards, but this one definitely needed a lot. I would pour on the oil, let it soak in, and repeat until it would absorb anymore. Between the front and the back, it used about an ounce of board oil. But, other than that, it is a nice board. The groove fits the other Caraway containers (dots and dashes) which are nice if you want to chop things and put them right into those containers. It's definitely not essential to use that groove for those. It would also be good for meat juices. Overall, I'm satisfied with the board. Do I think the cost is justified? Eh, it could be less compared to other boards that I have, but for a good wood board, it's not terribly exorbitant.
