Very Comprehensive Book Filled With Great Travel Tips
I have been fascinated by India for a while now, and we are thinking of adding it to our “places to see” list. So, I ordered this book to learn a little more, and get some ideas. I am very happy with the quality and contents of this book, even my partner was impressed. It is a lot thicker and more comprehensive than I had expected it to be.The book is well made, and filled with fabulous ideas for seeing India, and all of its glory. It has several sections on travel tips, where to go and what to see, and important info, including things you should definitely pack and what you need to know before you go.My partner and I have both picked out our favorite things to see, and where we want to go the most. There are some fabulous trip ideas in this book. It is not only filled with detailed itineraries and travel advice, but gorgeous photography as well.Overall, this is a great book; it is definitely one to keep in mind for anyone who likes to travel, and plans on seeing India.

What has happened to Lonely Planet?? Do NOT bother with this edition.
Lonely Planet, the essential companion on any journey to India. Or that was always the case up until now. I received my copy and was interested to read the latest updated information. The problem is that they have culled a huge junk of the guide. Down from 1250 pages to 980. It has become just another coffee table type publication written in a very simplistic style and all the hugely important info on how to get to places and where to stay has been slashed dramatically. The 7 North East States, a huge and incredibly fascinating region to travel in. There was never a huge amount of information out there about travelling in these states but in the last edition of LP they devoted 40 pages to them in this one 9 pages!! Travel in every state is just given a broad brush approach with none of the essential details. We leave to go to India again in January and will be taking our well thumbed 2022 edition with us. It is definitely out of date on pricing and some train info but infinitely superior to this dumbed down rubbish that has just been published.

Overwhelming to the point of uselessness.
Bought to decide which region(s) to visit on a forthcoming trip. But didn't find it very helpful in differentiating one from another. This book is too lengthy and has too much detail for this task - "can't see the wood for the trees". Perhaps India is simply to vast forthis kind of book.

Great Book For Travel Inspiration
This book is a lovely light read when planning or dreaming about a trip to India. I am thinking of visiting this country later this year or potentially next year but it is so big I get overwhelmed when thinking where exactly to go and what to do when I get there. This book works great to show what options are there, what places can be nice to visit, etc. I think this book works really great for inspiration like this - making the list of places I would like to go to.However, as transportation and hotels are constantly changing (that is just a reality everywhere), I will probably be making actual travel arrangements based on information I find online. This will ensure I get the most up-to-date information (as my trip is still a while away). However, this book definitely works wonders for planning which regions I want to see. 5/5 stars.

A worthy addition to my Lonely Planet collection
I'm building my collection of Lonely Planet books while I begin to expand my horizons on travel destinations. These books truly are a remarkable source of what feels like personalised information on occasion.I see there's some reviews absolutely slating this book, but since I've not read the India guide before, most (if not all) of the information contained within is going to be useful to me - and for the rest, there's Google maps. The India book is the largest of all of the Lonely Planet books I own and rightly so, there's a lot to see and do, and this book makes it very easy to find and understand.

Brilliant as always from Lonely Planet
We travel a few times a year so really love the Lonely Planet guides, they are brilliant for helping us plan our next trip as well as whilst we are there. Great info, lovely illustrations, love they map in the back if you are trying to stay present and tech free, really good for the kids to look at too, helping them understand the size and idea of how far you actually are moving around a holiday destination or just to learn about a new place.
