Sketching from the Imagination: Dark Arts Paperback – April 3, 2018

This is my favorite out of the series to recreate sketches from. Lots and lots of good sketches. You can learn a lot from this book by sketching the images on your own. Quality book. Spine and pages together great even with how I carry it around with me on the go. If you are want to draw the subject matter of this book to increase your visual library then I do recommend purchasing it.

The book received on time and in very good condition it is a good book to those who love this kind of art

REALLY LIKE THE ARTISTS PICTURES IN THIS BOOK. SUPER CREATIVE. HAVEN'T GOT TO READ MUCH BUT WHAT I HAVE IS INSTRUCTIVE. I WAS BUYING THE BOOK TO LOOK AT THE PICTURES MORE THAN ANYTHING. FASCINATED WITH HOW OTHERS DRAW! THIS IS LIKE THE 4TH BOOK BY THIS AUTHOR THAT I'VE BOUGHT.

This artbook contains insight and drawing techniques from various artists who are renowned in this field of dark and gothic arts. I was excited to see Abigail Larson and Justin O'Neil in here! Each advice gives not only idea on how to streamline the art process, but also reflection on how the tiny details we see and create that reflects the overall aspect of who we are and how we want to contribute to humanity in showing the deeper aspects of human psyche and existence that are being hidden from the light of the mundane.

Lots of inspiration here but not much technique or instruction.

The sketches and the stories behind them are great places to get inspiration from if you’re looking to expand your catalogue of sketches and drawings. And if you like the macabre or just creepy, dark fantasy world building, then this book is perfect for you.

The Sketching from the imagination book series is quite well done and a great resource for artists to learn more about how other artists may go about their craft. The dark arts entry into the series is probably my favorite and one of the best compilations of dark or horror inspired art that I’ve ever seen. Many of the other books of the sketching from the imagination series have parallels in other books, but this one is incredibly unique onto itself and definitely worth picking up. Frankly you just can’t see this type of artwork collected anywhere else.

The Sketching From the Imagination series as a whole is excellent. All of the books are compilations of great artists within the industry of Film, Tv, Gaming, Comics, Toys... Each artist explains their technique, medium and inspiration. I am a character and creature artist and I constantly refer to this series for inspiration, ideas or to simply research each of the artists online. Each book is of great quality for the price. I own all of them so far including the Sculpting From the Imagination: ZBrush book since I am an avid user of ZBrush.
