Exceeds expectations!
Update: Right after i posted this, the map changed. It’s like an algorithm update happened because now the furniture on the walls show up as walls. Much preferred it before, where rooms actually looked like rooms. It’s possible that adding my dining room table triggered the remap. But it doesn’t explain why furniture is seen as the perimeter of the room now when before it wasn’t. This makes it marginally more confusing and harder to use no go zones etc cleanly. And because the edges are jagged, it’s harder to be certain the map isn’t changing on me. It’s been years since I had a robot vacuum and wow has the mapping and navigation technology come a long way! My last Ecovac’s map would always get messed up. With my Narwhal, it missed one room during the original mapping (had to delete and remap), but other than that its map and navigation are rock solid. The map never changes. When i move the vacuum it manages to figure out exactly where it is. The vacuum first goes around the edge of the room and gets all the nooks and crannies. During this time it may lightly bump into things. My cat’s low profile bowl got pushed several inches —not a big deal. Its side brushes did touch my cat while she was eating. Generally she stays out of its way. Beyond the edge cleaning, it doesn’t bump into anything and does neat, close rows back and forth, never touching the edge it already did. Object avoidance overall is impressive especially at this price range. The side sensors are placed low, which is also helpful to avoid low things. However, it will get tangled with cords, particularly small ones. So you will need to practice good cord management or place a no-go zone. (Which I trust, due to the solid map and navigation.) It does use LIDAR so I try to leave the light on for it. I have not tried the mop but i have a low pile rug and there is hardly any clearance between the mop and the rug, so I feel like I wouldn’t mop at the same time as vacuum ever. Oh, and the compression technology works, even if you don’t use the expensive baggie-filter combos. I just empty the container with the filter. Not sure how long it can go without emptying, but I can certainly go more than one week despite all my pet hair, long hair, and leaves. The main roller brush is truly tangle free. There is nothing you can do about side brushes though other than pop them off. The first time i ran it, there was such a build up of cat hair that it formed a tight hairball that could not enter the bin through the tiny hole (see picture). Other than that initial day i never have a problem. Oh it also has child lock, for those cats inclined to play with it (haven’t seen this come into play but like the idea). Best purchase in a long time. Oh, one other long unsolved problem besides the cords is that it has trouble with under 1” metal feet, such as the legs of my bar chair. It does crawl over them but has difficulty. This is nothing new or unique to this vacuum though. Overall I love it esp. for this price!

Great little vacuum - easy to set up and use!
We have a Narwal T10 and have for years, you can look at my past review for it. This is going to make me sound super lazy, but I rarely used the mop feature of the T10 because I hated taking off the vacuum part and attaching the mop part. I saw the Freo X Plus and thought it might be a better fit for the area I needed it for, and I might be able to use the T10 to mop a different area so I wouldn't have to keep swapping the modules. I ordered the Freo X Plus and it was here in two days. Mapping with the Freo X Plus was WAY better than what I remember with the T10. The app is far superior as well- I had mapped, named rooms, and set up a schedule within 20 minutes; very intuitive. I need the vacuum to go out every morning and vacuum the laundry room where the cat litter box is, and the hallway outside it, because my cats are nasty and I hate getting cat litter stuck to my feet. The Freo X Plus handled vacuuming the area with ease and has gone out reliably every morning after setting up the schedule. You can customize and have it vacuum twice, and change the suction, have it vacuum/mop, or mop. There are a lot more options than the T10, it's amazing how fast technology improves. (Also, you can identify the type of floor in each area and they have cobblestone as an option! Never seen that before but it's awesome as someone with cobblestone!) Just like the T10, the Freo X Plus can handle my dark slate cobblestone floors with ease whereas other brands sometimes would spin in circles on them because they thought they were falling off cliffs. The Freo X Plus doesn't confuse an ACTUAL staircase drop with the floors either. We have it tucked under the buffet in our living room which has a crossbeam that lets the base station rest against it. The Freo X Plus' base station is so much smaller than the T10's and replacing it makes the room feel much bigger! All in all, this is a great upgrade from the T10 and comes with the reliability and great customer support I've come to expect from Narwal. Highly recommend if you're on the fence and want a smaller unit than the Narwal flagship products.

I've been using the Narwal Freo X Plus for about a month now and I am so sad I waited so long to get it. It surpassed my expectations. It offers multiple speeds/suctions or the vacuum, which is great when I want to set it on at night! The little spinning hair arms grad all the hair in corners and under chairs. Even on the quietest and lowest suction setting, it still picks up all the dog hair and dirt my golden retriever leaves behind. What really impressed me was how well it corrects itself when my dog gets in its way or when it gets stuck on my mini carpets. The mapping feature is spot-on; it mapped my house perfectly, and the app is customizable and easy to use. Despite its size, the canister holds a surprising amount of dirt/hair and the roller has not gotten any of mine or my dogs hair wrapped in it! The water tank is a bit on the small side, and while I haven't used the highest mop setting, I wouldn't say the mop is fantastic. However, it does a good job of getting surface dust and dirt, so when I come home, my floors are dog hair-free and shiny! The sleek white design adds a modern touch, and considering its price, I'm honestly very impressed with the overall performance. If you're looking for a reliable vacuum that does a solid job, especially with pet hair, the Narwal Freo X Plus is worth considering.

Have had to call support twice in the first three days... I like that it doesn't run into everything. Freo mode is useless...have to go in and set your own preferences... Ran last night night while I was out...and got a notification that it finished....when I tried to start it this morning it said low battery....I checked the map and the thing stopped under my bed...not tangled, not stuck...just finished and didn't return to its dock.... In my opinion, I either received a dud....or this product is not worth more than 200 bucks. Update 3 months later. I added a star 3 to 4 and purchased a second one for my mother....on Sale....don't buy this this for 549 bucks...I feel like I over paid at 400. My package was missing a mop pad...only one resusable one came in the box. I spoke to support...but never received a resolution to this. The mapping feature is ....well...you have to divide a lot of spaces up...it doesn't seem to recognize doorways... Despite adding a chair to the map this thing will hump the chair leg for about 5 minutes before it moves on...ugh...I don't want to add a do not enter space there..I still want it cleaned...but the chair humping has got to go... I don't understand why it does not see the legs? It will chew up every cord on the floor....so be sure you have no phone cables or plugs laying out where it can get at it. It eats socks, underwear, hair ties get stuck in it and makes crazy noises...it will drag screwdrivers and other small tools making a racket.... I can't get this to work with Alexa commands...it works with Google...but if I want to clean only one room...I need to use my app on the phone... I never use the Freo mode...it really makes no sense...it doesn't pick anything up...the first few times I ran it in Freo mode...the bag was empty. So marketing gimmick? Idk. So good stuff...it's quiet...it picks up alot of debris if you turn up suction power....I love that it disenfectents the bag by drying it...so it's not a big deal when the dog takes a big drink and has water drips all over the floor... awesome. I love the disposable bags with filters. Its on sale right now with a 200 off coupon...I would pay 349 for it again...but not the 549.

Excellent cleaning and advanced features. It is a drag behind mop so don't buy it for it's mopping ability but does keep smooth floors clean! Would buy again

I bought the Narwal for its 2-in-1 vacuum and mop features, but unfortunately, the mop function just doesn’t deliver. Vacuum: Works well overall. If you have pets, you must set it to Super Powerful—anything less and it barely picks up hair. It also gets tangled easily on cords, shoelaces, or anything left on the floor, so prep is key. Mop: This is where things really fall apart. It’s not so much a mop as it is a damp pad dragging dirt around. There’s no clean vs. dirty water system—just one small tank pushing water to the pad. I’ve tried multiple solutions and even ran it twice in one evening, but still had to mop manually afterward. Streaks everywhere, especially on dark hardwood. Muddy paw prints? Just smeared, not cleaned. Overall: I'd maybe buy this again as a vacuum at a much lower price, but the mop function feels like a half-baked add-on. Definitely not a true 2-in-1. Disappointing for the price, and I can’t recommend it as a mop. Hoping the company takes this feedback seriously and offers some kind of solution.
