PCR tests can be highly accurate. But we're all familiar with the false positives and false negatives possibilities of other tests. We now seem uneasily content to live with a degree of uncertainty, which really renders the value of any test as questionable. It's mainly for peace of mind, but for me, the uncertainty leaves me uneasy as my health is involved, and after a $100 test, what information does it really provide that gets me well faster than without the test?If you have symptoms worthy of seeing a doctor, you probably should and will. And you're probably already treating your symptoms with OTC remedies and staying at home. I'm not sure it's worth the cost to add this test your get-well routine. There are flu and RSV vaccines that might bring more value to your health.That said, it's amazing we even have at-home testing with this degree of accuracy that offers follow-up care. The test is easy and backed by a process that's efficient and speedy, but the test doesn't really provide information valuable to restoring health.
