It burned me
I bought the regular Pure almost 2 years ago and it definitely did it’s job, but it ran out of flashes and even though it worked I still need periodic maintenance so I bought the pure mini-not the same! Works fine for maintenance on legs but it has left my under arms very burnt. And on the regular pure I never even used the gentle setting. I guess it’s cheaper for a reason-very disappointed

Small, Effective
This is very small, so it's perfect for holding for long periods of time without getting tired. It's also ideal for hard-to-reach spots, like underarms or the bikini line - or even the dreaded upper lip fuzz. The cord is long enough that you can use it comfortably on the sofa without stretching too far. It's also very quiet, so you can watch TV or listen to a podcast while using it without issue. The light, as with all similar items, is bright, so you MUST wear protective glasses. I have dark hair on light skin so it works perfectly for me. On a pain level, I don't find it to be much of anything, even on the highest level. As for effectiveness, after consistent use over several months, I have noticed a significant decrease in hair in the areas where I used it - the hair is not completely gone, but it is at least 80% lighter.

IPL device capable of amazingly fast consecutive pulses
I have reviewed a LOT of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) devices at this point. And, frankly, most of them are very similar. So when one isn't like all the others, it really stands out. This one is not like all the others. What makes it different? The refractory rate. That's the rate between light pulses. For most of these IPL devices, there's a 2-4 second interval between light pulses, as the device recharges. Since you need to apply many pulses in a treatment session, that can add up.This IPL device, on the other hand, is capable of nearly two pulses per second. This is not just PR. I tested it and you can very obviously observe the difference. It's quite amazing, actually, how much more efficient this IPL device is that most of the others. On the downside, the pulses are just 3 J/cm^2 in power, which is on the moderate side as IPL devices go (some max out at 6-7 j/cm2). So you are getting faster pulses, but lower power pulses.Specifics of this IPL device:** Only performs hair removal.** NO ICE skin cooling functionality** No LCD screen.** No user-adjustable power levels.** "Oblong" shaped unit--a bit cumbersome in the hand** The power supply is permanently attached to the IPL device.** No on/off switch. You turn it on/off by plugging/unplugging it** No attachments to change the flash end shape** Rated for an "unlimited" number of flashes.Operation is trivial: Hold it flat against your skin and press the big button on top. You can keep the button held for fast multi-flashing.This is most simple IPL device I've tested. No LCD screen. No buttons (except the flash button). Not even an on/off switch.Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a snapshot of the light (see photos). The light duration is extremely short. You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you only get the IPL tool with attached power supply, and a short cable that connects the power supply to AC wall power. That's pretty bare bones as these kits go, but, honestly, you don't really need the cheap sunglasses or disposible razor that are usually tossed in. (I would recommend wearing a pair of sunglasses while using this, just to protect your eyes).Overall, this IPL offers superior flash speed, up to twice a second, but with lower power than many. You'll need to decide if that trade-off is valuable to you.Pros:** Very fast flashing** Solid construction** Smaller size may be better for travelCons:** No LCD readout** No power adjustment** Lower power per flash** No ICE cooling** No on/off switch

Hair reduction in patches
After 12 weeks of consistent use, I can’t say this has permanently removed 90% of hair even though, according to the “suitable for” guide, my skin type and hair color should be a perfect candidate. I have used on my chin, underarms, and legs weekly for 12 weeks. There are 2 differences I have noticed: there seems to be patches on my legs that have ceased growing hair completely (while the goal was pretty much all of my legs) and it seems like my leg hair is growing *slower*, such that it feels smoother for longer and I only have to shave once a week on the day I do this. I have notice no difference on my chin hair at all.I followed the instruction manual carefully, so what I would say is that I believe the concept of this type of hair removal device works, but I would invest in a more powerful/larger one that makes it easier and faster to cover the area.

Works But Takes Time...A Lot of Time
You have to be dedicated about using this to get the desired results. They aren't kidding in the instructions. I have had good success with my underarms. My legs already don't grow a lot of hair so I'm not sure if it's this or just my body making it so I can go weeks between shaves. :) My underarms, however, used to grow hair pretty fast. Now it's a lot slower, and less dense. I do think you should wear eye protection when using this, if you're looking at where you're aiming, you'll get a little bit of light leakage when you activate the device, and I can't imagine it's good for your eyes at all! When it activates I do feel a very quick "burn" feeling, but it immediately goes away and doesn't last for me. They're open about the possible side effects in the literature, and I strongly encourage anyone using this to read all the warnings and directions.
