The Ultimate Tool for auto electricians and more
As a DIY mechanic, I thought I had every tool I could possibly need to work on cars from home. Over the years, I’ve built up quite a collection, tackling everything from basic repairs to more intricate tasks. But after being advised by several experienced people that I needed a circuit tester, I decided to look into one. I wanted a product that offered good value for money, was well-built, and would be easy to use, as I’ve had experiences with complex tools in the past. This one caught my attention mainly because of its reasonable price point, the promise of a three-year warranty, and the reassuringly positive responses I received from customer service when I had some initial questions. The first thing that impressed me when I opened the box was the build quality. Right away, I could tell this was a product that was built to last. The materials felt sturdy, and it didn’t feel cheap at all. But it wasn’t just the device itself that stood out. The packaging was surprisingly well thought out. Not only was the tool secured within a neat foam compartment, but it also came in a protective case. This case is one of the nicest I’ve encountered. It has a foam layer inside that holds the tester securely in place, and the design is tough enough to withstand drops. This kind of attention to detail is reassuring, particularly when you’re investing in something that’s going to be used regularly. I’ve used this automotive power circuit probe tester on several occasions, and each time, it has proven to be an invaluable tool for diagnosing electrical issues. However, it’s important to point out that there is a learning curve when using it, especially if you’ve never worked with a circuit tester before. If you’re used to using a multimeter, you’ll likely find this tool easier to grasp. That said, even if you’re new to circuit testers, with a little time, you should be able to get the hang of it. The instructions included were helpful, but I found the tool itself fairly intuitive once I got started. One of the first tasks I used the tester for was to locate a break in an electrical loom in my car. I was honestly amazed at how quickly the tool identified the problem. It was incredibly efficient in finding the exact spot where the wiring had failed, which saved me a lot of time and effort compared to the old method of manually tracing wires and trying to find the break through guesswork. This tool isn’t perfect, though, and it’s important to understand its limitations. It works best when you have a full break in the circuit. In situations where the break is partial, it becomes less effective. While it might still help you identify the location of the break, it won’t be as reliable. So, you need to keep this in mind when using the tool. That said, for the majority of electrical issues that I’ve dealt with, it’s been more than sufficient. This automotive power circuit probe tester is versatile, and I’ve used it not only to locate breaks in wiring but also to test fuses and check the integrity of various electrical components. It’s a great tool for any DIY mechanic, and it’s ideal for anyone who wants to avoid costly trips to the garage for basic electrical diagnostics. The LED light indicator is another feature that I found particularly useful. When you’re working in dark or cramped spaces, being able to quickly see whether there’s a current running through a circuit makes troubleshooting much easier. It’s a small touch, but one that makes a significant difference when you’re working under the bonnet or inside a tight space. I’m also really impressed with the durability of the tester. While I haven’t dropped it, I’m confident that the protective case would offer full protection in case of an accidental drop. The case’s robust design, along with its internal foam layer, ensures the tool stays secure and well-protected, even during rough handling. This makes it a reliable option for both professional use and for those of us who tinker around with cars at home. It’s the kind of tool that feels like it’s going to last for years, even with regular use. Another factor that stands out about this automotive power circuit probe tester is its value for money. Considering how much it can do, I feel like I’ve gotten a great deal. Many similar products on the market are more expensive, and I was initially unsure whether this one would live up to expectations. However, after using it several times now, I can confidently say that it’s well worth the investment. The functionality and durability it offers at this price point are excellent, especially when you factor in the three-year warranty, which is a nice reassurance for anyone investing in a new tool. In conclusion, this automotive power circuit probe tester has exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s a powerful, reliable, and easy-to-use tool that has helped me diagnose electrical issues with ease. Whether you’re looking to find a break in a loom, test fuses, or check for power in various components, this tool gets the job done. The build quality is top-notch, the protective case is a nice bonus, and the LED light indicator is incredibly useful. If you’re in the market for a circuit tester that delivers on performance and value, I wholeheartedly recommend this tool. Works great for tracing broken wires, need to try its other features.
I had a broken wire on my linbus from the battery to the smart alternator and this kit worked spot on for finding the break. Traced the break using this kit in around 10 mins and soldered and repaired the break in the cable. Very happy for the money and saved a trip to the garage for someone else to fix it.

I recently bought this circuit tester and it’s been worth every cent. The tool — especially the breaker finder — helped me track down an electrical issue I was still having even after replacing my battery. The problem turned out to be a broken connector going to a sensor, and the breaker finder made it super easy to pinpoint. It was also great for checking fuses and connections on my Ford Maverick Hybrid while I was doing repairs. The whole setup is very user-friendly and feels well-built: long cables, solid connections, and an instruction manual that actually helps the average DIYer. Overall, this is a great tool for anyone in the automotive world — DIY or professional. Highly recommended.

Did not work from day 1, I’m very disappointed I had high expectations due to some of the reviews here

Much better than Multi meter especially because it can indicate a ground rather than just a no voltage reading. That is great for differentiating ground from positive wires that are switched off.

This probe will allow you to easily test automobile, RV, boat, and trailer wiring. It is packed with features that allow the probe to test voltage, resistance, and perform signal tracing. You will be able to energize electical parts like lamps and relays with the probe. The tool comes packed in a nice padded case that holds the probe, probe tip, breaker test probe, cigarette lighter adapter, a 20 foot extension cable, and battery terminal clamps. I first learned to operate the tool by performing some simple tests. Connecting the probe to the vehicle's power source is easy. You can connect right at the battery using the included clamps or with the lighter plug. By placing the the probe into Mode I, it can measure the battery voltage by pressing the rocker switch forward where the digital display will then display the positive voltage. Pressing the red button will scroll through the tool's feature set - DC voltage, AC voltage/frequency, resistance, and diode testing. I measured the resistance of my old VW's ignition coil with the probe (you can see the measurement in one of my photos). This is a useful feature for measuring resitance of relay coils, carb thermostats, and idle solenoids. When you push the rocker switch forward, the probe tip is connected to positive battery voltage. You can use this feature to power and test bulbs, relays, and solenoids before you install them into the vehicle (or check them while they are in place). The probe tip can pierce wiring insulation to allow testing without disconnecting wires. I especially appreciated the inclusion of a 20 foot power extension cable that will allow you to move the probe to far reaches of the vehicle. There is no need to make power connections at another part of the vehicle. There is a signal tracing feature when the tool is placed into Mode II. This will allow a signal from the probe to be placed onto a wire and you can then use the breaker probe to move along the suspected wire. A tone is heard from the tester as you move along the wire and will cease when you reach the breakpoint. I used this feature to finally locate the reason the rear lift gate on my Ford Escape would not raise with the foot activation. I found a break in the sensor wire right as it entered a multi-wire connector. I was able to solder a wire around the connector to get the liftgate to work once again. The probe paid for itself on just that one job. A dealership repair would have cost hundreds of dollars. The instruction manual is a bit hard to understand, but there are several excellent Youtube videos that review this tool and show how it can be used. If you compare this tool to the PowerProbe 3 or 4, you will see it works very similar but at a much reduced price. I really like this tool and look forward to finding other uses for it.
