Best beach chair ever!
This is my second time to purchase this exact chair! My other chair lasted three years spending a month each year at the beach. The canvas material is still completely intact but just faded some. The metal gears are creaking, making the upper and bottom parts harder to move up and down. But it’s still highly functional and I use it several times a week in my backyard. I’m saving the new one for the beach. They are great quality, and my favorite thing is that they are very lightweight in comparison to all the others! The carrying strap works wonderfully. I’m able to easily carry this long distances without too much effort walking uphill in the sand. I also love the way you can lay face down and read or play on your phone! I always get compliments when I use this chair. People want to know where I got it. This new bright yellow color is so awesome!!! I weigh about 145 lbs, and it fits me perfectly. I would not recommend it for someone who is very overweight as it seems like the side bars might be uncomfortable on their backside. As far as cushioning, there isn’t any except for the place where you put your face when laying face down. Despite there being no cushioning, this chair is very comfortable but just don’t expect it to have a plush feeling if that is what you are wanting. You can easily attach a smaller chair cushion to it if wanted. This chair is so easily storable in my closet as it takes up virtually no space at all when folded up. I highly recommend this chair to everyone!! Definitely worth the price!

Lightweight and comfortable chaise lounge chair.
This is a nice chaise lounge that I ordered to replace one that tore last year. It looks like this new one has been reinforced in the spot that my old one ripped so hopefully this one lasts longer. It is very comfortable to lay on your back or on your stomach. I like the holes for my face and hands so I can use my phone while laying on my stomach. It comes ready to go out of the box and is very easy to open and use. It has several different options to lay flat or sit up. I like how quickly I can close it up and carry it to a new spot as it's not that heavy or bulky and it comes with a carrying strap.

What do tall people do?
I've had my "Ostrich" folding blue chaise for about 3 weeks, and used it a half-dozen times. The ability to read while lying face down is GREAT. Turns out, the holes through which to put your arms are every bit as important as the hole in which to place your face. The padding around the latter is very good, and the arm-hole accommodations allow for easy handling of whatever you're reading, whether newspaper, magazine or book. I was concerned as to whether I'd actually be able to use this for reading because I wear reading glasses. One does have to scrunch around a bit to find a comfortable position for their eye-glasses. However, I soon discovered that because of the snug (although fully comfortable) fit created by the built-in pads around the face hole -- and thanks to the chaise's arm holes -- one can simply push your glasses on from underneath the chaise, and they'll stay on in a usable fashion in a manner that would not be possible without that snug fit around the face hole. That is, to try to wear the glasses with the two stems actually over ones ears in the usual fashion isn't comfortable. But (at least for me), the glasses are actually just suspended below the face hole, properly close to my eyes...perfectly comfortable and usable. (This is more labored to write than to experience. The important conclusion? You can use this chaise even if you need to wear glasses when reading.) So, why 4 stars instead of 5? The chaise is on the short side. I'm a chap of average, 5'10" height, yet while lying on my stomach (with my face centered in the opening provided for same), the bar at the foot of the chaise (this is the piece of tubing that extends around the entire perimeter of the chaise's fabric), does begin to press painfully into the top of my feet. So if my toes are dangling over the edge, it could only be more extreme for someone taller than I (affecting their ankles or shins). Then again, a solution isn't difficult. I simply place a small, rolled-up hand towel along that offending end. The manufacturer's done such a fine job of providing padding around the face opening, it's a shame that similar padding isn't provided along the bottom edge of the chaise. Still, as noted, it's not difficult to offset this discomfort. (And I've found this same complaint with many other types of chaises, too.) As for the chaise's strength: I'm no light-weight -- I weigh a solid 210 pounds -- yet the chaise seems to handle my stocky frame without complaint (or, more importantly, without collapse!) By the way, I usually disconnect and dispose of the shoulder straps that accompany many items I've purchased (suitcases, valises, computer-totes, etc.) But I've found the carrying strap on this chaise is designed so as not to be in the way while attached, yet it also truly improves the carrying of this device from one location to another. Lastly, it has seemed to me that this same item is available through other internet sites...but at higher prices, some ranging (can it be?) for as much as 125% more! (When I ordered it from Amazon it was $59.00) So, all in all, I'm thus far highly pleased with this purchase. But for that unpadded tubing at the far end, it would earn a smashing FIVE STARS from me. (And yes, even now that I know about that latter feature, I'd still recommend it to anyone seeking a chaise designed for reading when lying on ones face.)

Very well made.
Very nice. Sturdy. Comfortable. Maybe a little pricey, but it will work great at the beach.

Terrible Customer Service
I never write reviews, but I had such a terrible experience with customer service that I thought I needed to share. I purchased this chair and it arrived to me broken (chair wouldn't fold out flat all the way, a metal piece seemed to be bent and stuck). I went to Amazon customer support to return it, but the return had to go through the seller, Ostrich. I reached out to Ostrich to process my return and get me a replacement chair and they didn't respond for days. I followed up, and when they finally did respond, they asked for information that I had already provided in my initial email (I guess they just didn't read it?) - prompting a lot of back and forth without a clear ask on their end with what information they actually needed. When we finally got all the basic information squared away, all they could do (per their warranty) is issue me a coupon code for a new chair through their website, less shipping... Okay, sure. Went to the Ostrich website to purchase a replacement, they had limited inventory so couldn't get the same colorway (annoying but whatever), put in the coupon code they gave me, and it was going to cost me an additional $30 to get a new chair... Not trying to sound like a Karen here, but not sure how it makes sense that a customer would spend $70 to get a broken chair and then have to pay another $30 to get it replaced. (The quality of this chair is definitely not worth $100 and neither is trying to figure out how to dispose of the broken thing). I opened up my concern with Ostrich on June 6, 2024 - it is now June 24, 2024 and this issue is still not resolved with them. I contacted Amazon again and they made it right, but it definitely turned me off from this brand. All around pretty exhausting experience with a very lack-luster outcome. and the chair itself is pretty cheap - it's lightweight but not super sturdy or comfortable. Definitely look elsewhere.

Nice value
I bought this so that when sunning I could lay on my stomach and read a book under underneath where the hole for the face is. The only problem is that when you’re holding the book it’s very uncomfortable on the arms. It would be nice if there were padding on the edges, otherwise it’s a great lounge chair.

Meh...
We live at the beach year round so I prefer to invest in good pieces of beach furniture because they get a lot of use. I was excited to get our ostrich chairs, however after one summer of consistent use, here is my full review. Pros: I LOVE being able to flip over in my chair and not have to twist my neck around while choosing a side of my face to lie on. The hole is perfect and does make it more comfortable. I also enjoy reading with my arms through the armholes as it makes your book nice and shady and increases eye comfort. The chair is comfortable. The shoulder strap is very convenient. The chair overall is lightweight and easy to transport. Cons: One of our chairs broke after a month and was no longer useable. After reading reviews, this, apparently, is not uncommon. While the face- and armholes are convenient, the chair would be more comfortable if it were a bit higher up (I feel like my face is right in my book and it's just not as comfortable when I'm reading). The hinges do not always lock so if you sit in the chair the back pops up when you sit and then you have to readjust it, hold the back with one hand while you sit, then keep your hand on it while you lean back into the chair. It's kind of a science as to when to let go of the back and let your back fall into it the rest of the way. And it's extremely annoying when you mess that up and have to start all over. The chair gets very smelly if you don't wash it with soap after regular use. Rinsing is not enough. Must use soap. Sweat, city water and salt water create a very bad combination odor on this chair. Don't find out for yourself. Just use soap after every use. I don't know if I would purchase these again. I do like the comfort and convenience of the chair but I'm equally disappointed in their overall performance. I am seeking alternatives and am hoping for good results.

Comfortable adjustable sitting options.
Very easy to lay on your stomach to tan. Your face fits perfectly through the fold back head rest. You can easily read a book or your phone. Sturdy and comfortable fabric.

Ok for shorter people or taller people
I'm 5 foot 4 and found the bed just the wrong length if you want to use head hole. Uncomfortable on feet/ shins with bottom bar. Also its narrow as a bed which it doesn't need to be with arm holes. It's good but not perfect so for the price I was a bit disappointed

Me gusta.
