Should've bought this sooner
A fantastic tool that will save your back and your sanity if you have weeds or nuisance saplings that need the boot during your spring clean up. The ergonomics of this tool are great and it takes very little effort to pull up both the weed and its roots quickly once you get in a groove. The viewing window in the lever makes for an easy sight line to the prongs and helps you get everything centered up well. All that's left is to give the device a good push straight down around the weed and angle the handle back to activate the grabbing action of the claws. The lever action of the device makes short work of nuisance vegetation with very little exertion. The easy eject slider on the handle makes it quick to release the plucked weed and move on to the next with ease. The claws on this device feature a soft ridging as opposed to harshly serrated teeth. I assume this is to strike a balance between grabbing power and the ability to eject the plant with ease after each use. This being said you have to know their are limitations for plant size with this tool. Any new growth from this season like sprouting acorns, or crabgrass are a non-issue, but if you are tackling well established root systems with thicker growth you may need to turn to other tool options due to the lightweight nature of this device.

Useful for Large Weeds
If there is one thing I hate, it is dealing with weeds. While I have a tool that is good at getting smaller weeds, it has a lot of issues with larger weeds, especially the odd ones we have had this year. I am used to dealing with the thorny dandelion weeds in my flower bed every year, but for some reason, they were worse this year. After reading some online reviews, someone suggested the Fiskar 4-Claw Stand-Up Weed Puller Tool, and I decided to give it a shot. While it isn't very adjustable, the tool itself is sturdy and pretty easy to use. It took a few tries for me to figure out exactly how it works, but I was able to quickly adjust and close some very large deals efficiently. It is very sharp, allowing me to cut through even some small growing trees. It was honestly pretty amazing, and I loved the results. I wish that were a bit easier to adjust, but it has pretty good stability and gives me good leverage on some of the smaller trees and large roots. Overall, I considered it a good value for the money, and I hope it lasts!

Pretty cool tool
One hand operation for pulling weed. Quite simple to use and it works. The softer the ground (wet if necessary), the easier it is to pull the weed.

Great Weed Puller That Saves Your Back
This tool makes pulling weeds much easier than doing it by hand and saves a lot of bending over. It works especially well on larger weeds with established roots and is sturdy and easy to use. The foot pedal provides good leverage, and the weed release mechanism is convenient. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that it doesn’t always remove the entire root on smaller weeds or in very compact soil, so it can take a couple of attempts. It also works best when the ground is slightly moist. Overall, it’s a quality tool that significantly reduces the effort of yard work and is a great investment if you have a lot of weeds to remove.

CAUTION: Spearfishing for Crabgrass Can Become Addictive
This is a fantastic labor-saver; if you have weeds that need to go, this is your answer. I hesitated to buy it, reading through the reviews here, because my primary weed-of-choice is a HORRENDOUS infestation of crab grass (or crabgrass, depending on your spelling preference) and the reviews were mixed--2/3 said it worked on crab grass, 1/3 said it didn't. IT WORKS. And easily. Last summer, I spent several afternoons in 112 degree Texas heat, on my hands and knees, cutting crab grass out of our St. Augustine yard. Blistered hands. Tired back. Sunburn. Bug bites. About 35 plants removed after about 5 hours of really, really hot, hard work. We'd tried killing it with weedkiller that said "safe for St Augustine"--it wasn't. Huge swaths of the St Augustine died after spraying the crab grass, which just seemed to get bigger. So, after talking to a horticulturist, we tried heavy acid vinegar. No go: "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." Finally, my husband, in a fit of frustration, said he was going to kill it all with Round-Up and we'd re-seed the yard if we had to. So in September, he sprayed. The crab grass looked like it died. The St Augustine DID die. And this Spring--behold the miracle--green crab grass. A yard FULL of healthy, green crab grass and yellowed, dead St. Augustine. And two new puppies, which meant that re-seeding the lawn was OUT for this year. The only answer was to hand-extract the crab grass and pray that some random strands of St Augustine had survived the nuclear option. So, I found this upright weeder on Amazon, bought it, and was AMAZED that it truly worked and was EASY. No more back-breaking labor; no more blistered palms. And I'm quickly making a dent in the crab grass infestation. I've only had this for 2 weeks and have only used it for about 3 hours total, and we've disposed of 5 WHEELBARROWS full of crab grass so far. Plus some fuzzy cabbage-like weed and other odd weeds. Some hints: 1. Don't try to use this on dry, hard ground. It's easiest after a good rain or the day after you've run your sprinkler system. 2. Aim the center of the four "blades" at the center of your plant (for crab grass, you'll quickly learn there's less pigmentation at the center of the plant, where its "limbs" intersect--in no time, you'll develop a "feel" for this). 3. I've found it works best to insert this at a slight angle (about 30 degrees, rather than straight down), then gently tamp the black "heel" of the tool completely into the ground. Use the leverage of the "heel" to extract the weed from the ground. 4. Carry a bucketful of sand or topsoil with you, with a small garden shovel & fill the little "gopher holes" this tool makes. I extract about 8 weeds, then fill 8 holes. It's quicker than it sounds, but in our case, a necessity, lest the puppies learn that we're all REALLY, really into digging up the yard. You really will have to fill the divots this tool leaves behind. But in my opinion, it's worth it to get the crab grass root balls OUT. Permanently. 5. This model has a great feature: it "ejects" the weed after you've pulled it, using a little sliding bar on the handle. You get the great auditory reward of a ca-ching that sounds something like loading a rifle. Just the right motivator to go after more crab grass. I've Gotcha now! (Kinda makes you feel like you're channeling Carl from Caddyshack ). This tool is REALLY easy to use, light in weight, and does the job. I've been very impressed with the fact that I can truly stand comfortably and successfully weed the yard. I've heard that if we can ever establish some healthy St Augustine, it will more or less keep itself weed-free--the best joke of all, I've just learned that St Augustine is a close relative of crab grass, which is why no chemical weedkiller will really kill crab grass and leave St Augustine unscathed. Who knew? Good luck with your weeding; buy one of these & you'll amaze yourself at the speed and ease of your Springtime weeding tasks--I'm really glad I bought this (and so have 2 of my neighbors, once they tried mine). Highly recommended!

Horrible "Customer Service". Buyer Beware
After using the 4 claw weeder a handful of times, it broke. Since it advertised a warranty, I assumed I would be a little inconvenienced by having to file a warranty claim and then be delayed a week or two in my yardwork while I waited for the replacement item to arrive. I was very wrong. I emailed Fiskars (no contact phone number, just email) and notified them of the broken item and requested a replacement. After five days, they (no name proved in the email) responded to my email and stated that “We apologize for the inconvenience, however, due to unprecedented sales and factory delivery delays all models of our weeders will be out of stock until mid to late 2024”. I found this an unusual response since we were currently beyond mid and already in late 2024. I thought that I may have received an automated response and thought I would point this out in my response and hopefully get a detailed response from an actual person. Which I think I did, unfortunately. The response I received went something like this, As previously stated, we will not have the 4 claw weeder in stock until mid to late 2024. I’m don’t know how they intended this response to be received by me, but I took it as rude and not helpful. My options were to receive a $62.00 credit (good for 6 months) to use on their website or a refund check that can take up to 30 days to receive. Since a 30 day delay would put me too far behind in my yard work, I went for the $62.00 credit option. I thought that since the original weeder was $51.39, Fiskars was providing customer service and giving me a $10.00 over the purchase amount to say sorry for the inconvenience. However, when I went to their website, link provided by Fiskars customer service, I realized that their website did not list prices. Their website had their products and descriptions but if you wanted pricing then you had to click on a link to Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Lowes, ACE Hardware, or Tractor Supply. I clicked on Amazon and selected the 3 claw weeder ($39.97) and a pair of pruning shears (12.99). The price totaled $52.96. Which by my math is UNDER the $62.00 credit offered by Fiskars. I received the 3 claw weeder but not the pruner. I emailed Fiskars and inquired on the status of the pruners and they responded with “Hello Russel, As previously explained, we cannot send an additional item. Your credit was $62.00, and the 3 claw weeder was listed on our website for $59.99. There would not be enough left over to include any additional items.” Couple of items here to address. First, my name, which I put multiple times in the email conversation, is Russell (with 2 L’s). Not a big deal but there had been several back and forth messages and I stated my name several times. It shows me that either they are not paying attention to the emails from customers, or they don’t care, or both. The second issue, there was no “As previously explained”. I replied with: “First of all, my name is spelled Russell. Secondly, your website does not provide prices, only links to 3rd party sellers. As previously explained, Amazon, via your website, lists the 3 claw weeder at $39.97 and the Pruner at $12.99 for a total of $52.96. Which is under the $62.00 credit. See screenshots below. - RUSSELL” I added a screen shot of the items and prices stated on Amazon and a screen shot of the calculator screen where I added the prices. Fiskars replied with: “Hello, The credit was to items from our website. Our prices are different from Amazon and we do not match their prices with a credit to our website. We apologize for any confusion.” I replied with: “What a scam. I paid for a 4 claw weeder and ended up with a 3 claw weeder. Not to mention all of the hassle. Please provide a contact number so I can officially make a complaint. - Russell” I sent that email 5 days ago and still have not received a response. Bottom line, I paid for a 4 claw weeder and ended up, after several weeks and many emails of hassle and frustration, with a 3 claw weeder and ended up ghosted by Fiskars customer service. BUYER BEWARE!

Best weed puller of its class
This is THE best weed puller of this class. I have tried several others, and what stands apart is: 1) Ejection system. After you pull the weed, you can quickly and with little effort eject it as far as 6 feet. 2) The claws have teeth. Because of this, it grips weeds and even roots better than its competitors. 3) Quality materials. It truly stands up to serious use and somehow comes with a lifetime warranty. I have no idea how this product has not broken after repetitively using it to loosen and pull buried blackberry roots in addition to run of the mill weeds. It's a good $20 more expensive than other products that may be tempting, but I have yet to use a competitor that achieves the efficiency of this Fiskars. Downside: It's too short for those of us at least 6 feet. Expect a stiff neck after a few hours of weeding if you're tall. I wish Fiskars would release an extendable handle version. Despite this lone shortfall, there's simply no other product that comes close to this weed puller, so it gets a full 5 stars.

Great easy to use weeding tool
What I like most about this tool is you don't have to bend over or squat down and when you are getting on in years that really matters. It also does the job quickly. I find Fiskars is a quality brand, having previously bought their Micro Tip pruning shears, that won't break the bank.
