Had some issues with our pool pump/sand filter - one of which was the pressure gauge which hadn't worked (seemingly) since before we bought the house. Ultimately, we ended up having to replace both the pump and filter, so another gauge came with those items, but in the interim, this was easy to install, easy to read, and worked flawlessly. Feels like a really good quality item, and would definitely order again.

This review is for the MEASUREMAN Brass Gauge Adaptor 1/4NPT Female,2-1/2 OAL x 1-2/5" x 1/8" Probe with Stainless Steel Sheath. The 1/8" probe comes with a "Pete" plug. This is a self sealing valve to allow the probe to be inserted and measure the pressure of a closed water loop, commonly found in residential geothermal heat pumps. I'm sure there are other applications, but my application was to check and service my 15 year old geothermal unit. The simplest solution is to just hook a pressure gauge to the 1/8" probe, insert it into the pete plug, and read the pressure. You can see from the photos how you can screw the probe onto a pressure gauge with a 1/4" NPT male fitting. In my case, there were already 2 Pete plugs installed on my furnace, so the included one was not needed or used, but will be good for a spare. It is an invaluable tool for a homeowner, or geothermal technician to check the pressure of the closed loop of a geothermal furnace. I believe MEASUREMAN also sell a kit including the gauge, or at least did at the time of this review. It is made from brass and stainless steel. Note: the gauge in the picture is not included, but there just to illustrate how the probe can be used.

I have DIY-replaced an old rusty relic with this glycerin-filled dual-scale Pressure Gauge ( see photo ) featuring a 2.5” (6.4cm) diameter dial, stainless steel body and solid brass 1/4” NPT threaded fitting, and could not be happier with the quality of the fit and finish and overall results. The viscous glycerin does a great job of keeping the needle steady for accuracy. An included brass test plug is a bonus. Recommended.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Excellent quality for price. Used it to make Geothermal loop pressure tester and worked like a charm.
