Very fast with the correct port.
This is a very compact portable SSD in a metal case which feels robust and comes with a good, 5-year warranty. It's quite fast on a standard USB 3 port but to get the best performance it definitely has to be connected to a USB3.2 Gen 2x2 port which many computers don't have. Check your motherboard specifications if you're hoping to get anywhere near the advertised transfer rates. I also had to buy a cable which was specially rated for high speed data transfer using a USB3.2 Gen 2x2 port as my existing USB type C cables were usable but gave noticeably slower results.

Very disappointing read and write speeds
When I was looking for an external very fast storage device I decided on this Lexar 1TB one, being foolish enough to believe the advertised read and write speeds. These were too good to be true as the maximunm read and write speed I was getting, using the supplied USB C cable, was about 460 MBs both ways. Whilst it is very compact and looks very smart, it is let down by its performance. Far cheaper to buy an NVMe SSD and enclosure which will perform almost as well as this at a cheaper cost. I expected far better from Lexar.

Didn't work for my system
I wanted this as an on-site backup drive. Regrettably, I am no expert with computers and I could not persuade this drive to "talk" to my computer, despite the efforts of Lexar's help desk. I returned it to the seller with the intention of trying a drive from a different manufacturer.
