DecoArt ADC-27 Americana Chalky Finish Paint, 8-Ounce, Yesteryear

This chalk paint was easy to use and did what I needed it to do but I think there are some quality control issues because the color I got is not grey. I ordered the shade Yesteryear and from looking at pictures in the reviews, it seems like the application color for everyone who has gotten this has varied in shade. For me, it looks grey in the jar but after application and drying, it's baby blue. I wanted a lighter grey and saw in some of the reviews that it looked darker for some and lighter for others, but generally speaking, it has turned out grey for everyone. Except me. I keep trying to see grey over blue but every morning that I open my eyes and stare at my refinished dresser, I see blue. The project turned out fine and achieved the overall aesthetic I was going for, but it's not grey. I didn't get around to using this paint until a few months after I received it so it wasn't something I could return so I went ahead and used it. Again, the quality of the paint is really good. I got great coverage and it was super easy to apply. I just didn't get the color I was expecting. In my review picture, I've included my floors and a shrug that I have hanging in my closet, both of which are different shades of grey. I've included those to contrast the color of the chalk paint so that you can clearly see that- one more time, all together now- this paint is not grey. At least not for me. If you're not too worried about what color this ends up looking like on your furniture, I'd definitely say it's a good purchase, especially for the price.

I love this paint! Makes old furniture brand new and gorgeous, without breaking a sweat. I've used several colors, all are very nice. I don't care for the wax, I think any wax will do the job. I put a coat on neat, then thin out the 2nd (and sometimes) 3rd coat with a touch of water to smooth out the paint so it is not as chunky, and leaves a softer finish that way. I can also distress using a different color! If I don't like it just wash off with more water and try it again... The options are endless. I'm redoing my whole bedroom set, it looks so fun and unique. Just so you know, it looked like a cherry laminate finish before this paint went to town on it. I was able to do two large nightstands with 1 8oz can. Another can each for the dressers (different colors). On the darker one I used Yesteryear (light gray) as the base and distressed the drawers with Relic (very dark gray). On the lighter one, I used Primitive (light gray/warm) and white-washed it, then added the wax with a touch of the Vintage (seafoam green) color blended into it.

Great value! Purchased just the right amount to cover furniture- easy application.

Greta color. I recommend adding water to it if you want it to spread on a larger surface area. It becomes thick the longer you have it open. It was enough to cover my circular dining table top and the bottoms of 4 dining chairs not including the legs. I had to water it down when I got to the table top. You can use this over any wood surface and it'll cover it with 2 layers or so.

I’m so disappointed. It is not gray. It dries to a very light blue.

Went on very smooth. Took only 2 coats to completely cover the table. Very easy to use. I used a 2” sponge brush. Easy to clean up with water

Love water base..dried fast and took the white wash beautifully

A very very light grey, easy to use and economical. I painted a small coffee table with a third of a 8 oz. jar, two coats. Dries super fast, I only waited an hour between coats and left it to dry overnight before applying the varnish (same brand), although it basicaly dries instantly. Lovely finish, just make sure you spread it well.

This paint is fantastic! Such a nice cool grey colour. My paint project took a few days to complete and the paint got slightly thicker overnight once opened. All I did was add a bit of water to thin it out and ended up liking the consistency even more....a little goes a long way!

I love the colour of this grey paint, to me, it is the perfect grey. I have used it for many years but wish it could be bought in the UK, due to reducing its carbon footprint. Excellent product.

Just what I needed for our diy Christmas Eve box project! Dries fast and really easy to use. I painted it, let it dry and distressed is with medium fine sandpaper around the edges to give it an authentic vintage look. Really pleased with the results.
