Finally the truth about clowns is out! Beneath their smirky sinister grins and wildly patterned clothes are clever killers from out of this world. The "juxtaposition of their toy-store arsenal and malevolent intent proves to be a tasty combination" (Los Angeles Times) in this killer entertainment that will leave you fearing these big-top creatures for good. A spaceship—looking like a circus tent—lands in a field near a small town, signaling the attack of deviant, red-nosed, balloon-twisting psychos from another world who plan to annihilate mankind—by turning people into cotton candy! Luckily, the town's teen citizenry decides to fight back and teach the cosmic bozos a lesson. But these klowns are no klutzes, turning popcorn, peanuts and caramel corn into playful—but deadly—weapons of madcap destruction and mayhem!Bonus Content:4K Scan of the Original Camera NegativeIn Dolby Vision (HDR-10 Compatible)Audio Commentary with the Chiodo BrothersHD Restoration from 4K Scan of the Original Camera NegativeThe Making of Killer KlownsKomposing KlownsKreating KlownsVisual Effects with Gene WarrenDeleted ScenesBloopersEarliest Films of the Chiodo BrothersEaster Eggs

Nostalgic Fun and Campy Horror!
Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a wonderfully bizarre blend of comedy and horror that’s pure nostalgic fun. My husband loved this movie as a child, and revisiting it now was such a treat. The campy special effects and over-the-top antics of the Klowns are so entertaining, and the storyline is hilariously unique. The digital version looks great and makes it easy to relive this cult classic. A must-watch for fans of quirky 80s horror!

Excellent release for fans of the movie
This review is for the Blu-Ray version of 'Killer Klowns From Outer Space.'There are lots and lots of reviews already and i saw the movie a few years ago but decided to revisit it upon release of this blu-ray. Like the previous release by MGM's Midnite Movies, there are lots of extra's and the picture quality is excellent. But then again, the picture quality was excellent on the previous release by MGM. It's not necessary to upgrade unless you are a huge fan of the movie and absolutely must have the best picture possible.I'm giving this release 5 stars because the movie is excellent and highly imaginative. The picture quality, which was already excellent is at it's best here so I can't lower the rating just because it isn't a huge improvement. The movie starts off with a couple of college students 'making out' at a lookout, the kind you see in lots of movies. These two are Mike and Debbie. They see a shooting star and decide to go investigate. Meanwhile, in a homage to 'The Blob' we see a farmer who goes into the woods to investigate the supposed meteor. He finds a circus tent in the middle of the woods and encounters a Klown. Mike and Debbie arrive soon after and find the aforementioned circus tent. They enter and soon realize it's not a circus tent but something else entirely different. They discover dead people wrapped in cotton candy. Time enough to scream and head out quickly. They head to the police station and try to convince the police that their are clowns killing people. Officer Mooney (John Vernon, whom we all remember as the Dean in Animal House) is having none of it. Fortunately, Debbie's ex-boyfriend, Officer Dave decides to give them a chance and go investigate. Debbie is dumped off at home and Dave and Mike head to the woods where they find the tent is gone. Of course, Dave doesn't believe Mike despite the fact that their is an enormous crater right where the tent was and arrests Mike on the spot. This might be extreme but he was looking for a reason to get rid of Mike so he can make the moves on his ex, Debbie. It's not long after that that Officer Dave discovers that Mike is telling the truth. Officer Mooney, despite receiving a phone call from everybody in town (while sitting and laughing while reading a guns and ammo magazine!) refuses to believe any bit of this business of clowns. Even when he a Klown shows up he still believes the town is playing a practical joke on him. His end is somewhat creepy and reminiscent of 'What's the Matter with Helen?' From here it's up to Mike, Debbie, and Officer Dave to stop the Killer Klowns from Outer Space (along with some added help from the comical and very sexually frustrated Terenzi Brothers.)Just about every stereotype of clowns you can think of is used at some point in this movie. It is very creative and enjoyable to watch. I have to admit I thought I was going to hate it when I first watched it a few years back. I was bored for the first 15 minutes but then once I saw the Klowns in action along with the very excellent makeup, I was hooked. There are lots of good extra's that come with the movie. For starters there is an audio commentary by the Chiodo brothers, who made the movie. There are 5 featurettes which include the 'making of' and visual effects. There are also deleted scenes and bloopers along with the trailer.Highly Recommended for all fans of the horror-comedy genre and also for fans of clown (Klown) movies!

Great Satire of Sci-fi/Horror looking great on 4K
I've had this movie under various formats before such as DVD and Blu-Ray. I knew I had to get the 4K eventually and I'm glad I did.The story is familiar enough. It starts out with a strange alien spacecraft landing outside of a small town whose inhabitants later share an eventful night as they're terrorized by beings from another world. The difference here is that the aliens look and act like monstrous Circus Clowns!I've always loved this movie for its clever satire of the Science Fiction / Horror genre. They take familiar tropes of aliens invading a small town and then turn everything on its head by making the aliens into bizarre Circus Clowns whose spaceship looks like a giant circus tent and whose guns shoot substances like popcorn and cotton candy cocoons. I also like how this movie has clearly received inspiration from classic films like The Blob, Forbidden Planet and others. You can tell that the Chiodo Brothers clearly had a love for the classic films and really made Killer Klowns into a labor of love. It's also not played entirely for laughs as there are some genuinely creepy moments offered by the Klowns and the human protagonists deliver their lines and roles as seriously as they can (even when being shot at by popcorn guns). I don't put this in a "so bad it's good" category because this is an obvious satire delivered well. It's supposed to be cheesy in its delivery and that's what makes it fun.The 4K package is really good. As usual with releases like this, there is a 4K disc, a Blu-Ray Disc and a card with codes for a Digital Copy. The 4K version of the film looks really fantastic. Perfect color, picture and sound make for a great viewing experience. Also, what's common with this release is that the 4K disc just has the film itself with no special features other than the commentary track. If you want to view the Special Features, you have to go to the Blu-Ray. There is a small disappointment in that the special features offer nothing new. There are the usual offerings of behind-the-scenes documentaries, deleted scenes and gag reels. However, they are the same features that have been seen on previous DVD and Blu-Ray releases. So, if you've had those versions in the past, then you've seen all the Special Features that this new package has to offer. However, the 4K version looks so great that purchasing it is well worth it.I do want to add a small critique of the case. I got the black plastic case, not the steel-book. The black case has the two discs on either side and the spokes holding the discs in the case are a little shallow. It's common to find one or both discs loose in the case when you open it, so open with care.Fans of this film will not be disappointed in this great new 4K release. Highly recommended for fans of Sci-Fi / Horror Satire.

Bonus Materials Damaged Case
This movie is a classic and was a perfect gift for my mom who has been a huge fan since release. The bonus material postcard and coloring book were an exciting addition, but the postcard was hot glued to the front of the DVD case. This heat warped and damaged the thin see-through plastic layer over the DVD cover art. There's nothing wrong with the movie! It's just a downside for collectors.
