The good: -It’s fun to ride
I purchased the Louboard 3.0 direct from Soflow, AFTER the Kickstarter had closed and the Kickstarter backers boards had shipped. I will try very hard not to review the company here and just stick to the board. The good:-It’s fun to ride. Has great geometry that makes it super carvy for such a small board.-Looks.-Size. It’s easy to carry around and store if you want a small board.-Weight. Claimed 12lb. Comes in at 11lb-Bombproof. There’s no doubt that this board can take a beating.-Water resistant. I rode in some brutal Seattle rain. The ESC/motherboard got wet and didn’t short out. (I did stop and wipe out the water to avoid a puddle of water soaking the connectors)-It’s FUN to ride! The meh:-Color. I ordered the blue with an extra woodgrain deck plate. The blue carbon fiber is very dark. It looks black in all but the strongest sunlight. Instead of an extra woodgrain deck plate I got a black one.-The deck plate attachment. It’s a bit underwhelming. Soflow really hyped this in the beginning but it’s just plastic velcro. You have to stomp on the deck plate to get it secure. Even then it’s hit or miss. (Soflow has allegedly fixed this)-The remote. It’s very basic. To change directions you have to push down on the throttle stick. That can cause connection issues if you hit it accidentally, which is easy to do. And there’s a 3 position switch for off and speed control. Most companies with boards in this price are using digital on/off and have some indicator (LED usually) of battery status or speed setting. The LED on this remote just indicates connection. The ugly:-Speed. Soflow claims 21mph. I can get 18.5mph measured by phone and GPS watch.-The ESC came loose on the first ride. Whatever glue Soflow used was not designed to stick to carbon fiber. I added some 3M 2-sided tape and that won’t stick but does provide some vibration dampening.-Connectors are not “idiot proof” and do not have locks or moisture seals. It wouldn’t have taken much for Soflow to design the battery connectors in a way that prevents the user from installing the battery backwards. As is, it could be done if you’re not paying attention. No idea what that would do to the board.-My first ride out the board and remote lost connection and I had to kick it home ~5 miles. The connectors do not have locks. I was able to remove the ESC/motherboard, clean all the connections (with aircraft grade electronics cleaner) and reseat all the connections. That cleared the issue but it’s not something most people would be comfortable with.-The app. There isn’t one.Caveat emptor. I did get an early model. I’ll spare the details of dealing with Soflow. There are forum sites out there if you wish to read more and Amazon is always 100 on customer service.
