Will it detect current by just being next to the wires?( or do you actually have to touch the wires with this device)

Current can be detected without touching any wires.

How to use for Christmas lights? I have separated the three wires and all 3 beep after every bulb showing power on all 3 wires but bulbs don’t light.

It will beep even though the the wires are dead. Test a lamp cord or something you know is hot. The beep should sound different than the beep you are hearing on the Christmas lights. Listen for that beep when you are testing the lights.

I have outlet that not sure if it is 110 or 220V, will this tester tell me?

Tester will NOT differentiate between 110V or 220V, but will tell you if the outlet is live.

Will it work on automotive circuits (12V DC)?

This one does not. Most non-contact testers work by listening for 60-Hz hum, and a DC circuit does not hum.
