Great lightweight sun hat. I wore it today for sun protection when out kayaking. The hat performed flawlessly even when the wind tried to blow it off my head (15 to 30 mph wind gusts). The temperature was only about 91 degrees today so the real sun test will be on summer days that are well over 100 degrees here in Texas. I feel that this hat will be up to the task. It is a perfect hat for kayaking as it gives shade over the shoulders and back too. Surprising, the wide brim still allows for a great field of vision. The headband does a good job of keeping much of the sweat out of your eyes. While it is not necessary for me, I think there is ample room to wear a bandana or dew rag under this hat if one chooses. Just adjust the rear toggle as needed.My only complaint, though minor, is that I would like to have the chin strap moved just a hair toward the back so I could cinch the hat behind my ears when the wind is gusty and the strap doesn't rub or chafe. This is really me just nitpicking a perfectly great hat.The neck flap is broad and I think this hat would be a great piece of headgear for anyone doing fieldwork in archaeology or paleontology as well as anyone else spending hours in brutal heat (the sun is relentless on the backs of necks).On a side note, wearing this hat reminds me of those sun bonnets that pioneer women used to wear while crossing the prairies in covered wagons, haha. (Hey, those women were tough and smart--my great, great grandmother was one). I am proud of that heritage and spirit and I love this hat. I think you will too.

It's a great hat

I bought two of these... one for my husband who is out in the yard with the dogs and piddling all day and one for my contractor who practically shaved his head and is getting sunburned on his scalp. They love these hats!! I even like this hat and will order one for me. They are light on your head and don't cause extra heat because of their weight. They definitely look cool and even better with a pair of sun glasses. The color is almost right on. They definitely keep the sun off and shade your eyes. They have a pull string tie on the back so that any sized head can fit, even the big head! Every man should have one if he's working outside, mowing the grass, playing, hiking, gardening, filling bird feeders or just piddling outside in the yard!! Love it!! And you can't beat the price... arrived as advertised, in two days!!! The other men in my life are getting these as stocking stuffers for Christmas... The quality is excellent!! Update: They guys are going nuts... I have had to order a total of five of these hats as the men in my circle see them and then want one too. They do look good on them and they love how functional they are, protection from the sun, the band that ensures a great fit on any head, and how the hats are a good light weight that doesn't heat up their heads.... They are wearing them everywhere...what a fashion statement.

Overall: Good hat! The wide brim really helps to keep the sun off your face , and the neck flap also works as expected. It feels a bit floppy when you first take it out of the box but when you put it on your head it keeps its shape very well.Fit: I measured my head at 24.5" and the hat fit comfortably. It has a drawstring to tighten it up if you have a smaller head.Con: The only thing I was a little disappointed in is the sweat band. It's there but I sweat a lot and the sweat band is rather anemic. I'd give 5 stars if it had a thick moisture wicking sweat band sewn in.

The hat is adjustable around the forehead and the flap that covers your neck can be folded and put inside the hat which is a very nice option for different weather conditions.

Got this for my husband who works out in our yard pretty much daily. Being in south Florida, the sun is pretty strong, and his big woven straw hat was getting pretty shabby looking. I wanted something sturdy, ventilated and cool, that would keep the beating sun off his neck, face and ears. He likes the camo pattern, and the brim has enough stability that it doesn't flop if it's windy. All in all we're really happy with this hat!

I needed a new hat for working out in the yard, and this one has been very good for protecting me from the sun. The construction of the hat is very good. The rear flap does an excellent job of shading the head and neck, and the vent mesh on the sides come in handy. I've rinsed the hat when I'm done working and the front bill has kept its' shape after each rinse.My only "complaint" is that it only comes in one size. It fits me, but it is a tight fit. Not a major issue if you do not have a large head.Overall, a great buy for the money. I'd strongly recommend the hat and would buy it again.

Arizona sun approved. Light and breathable. Protects the neck quite well.
