Lightweight, easy to use controls
Lightweight, easy to move. Controls are easily accessible. My only complaint is that the power cord should be longer. I had to move my power supply away from the wall and closer to the tripod. Works great for product photography.

It can change to just about any color
Have had this for a few months now and still works incredibly well. Very bright, changes to about any color and any brightness. Wires are strong. Doesn’t tip over, easy to adjust and transport.

Absolutely terrible product
First one I bought was broken and unable to move on the tilt adjustment. I requested a replacement and then on the second on the DC cord was too big for the input and it wouldn't turn on. Super annoying and wouldn't recommend it at all.

Just needs a app and this would be amazing
Bright light and works perfectly. I thought it’d be a cheap build, but it’s actually good quality. Remote works only for the camera once bluetoothed to the phone, so I kind of find that a bummer. I wish there was an app to control the rest of the lamp, but it’s all manual controls. Turn knobs and press buttons. Needs an app to really bring this light to its best function. It’s easy to use, but again. Needs app to be better. The case and everything it comes with is surprisingly well built, it was just supposed to be used when I need it, but it’s been pretty set up and used daily. Head and height are easily adjusted. I love the knog with the press button to wrench down the tightness, that was a perfect addition. Just add a app and you have something special here!

Seller was very helpful
I originally bought the NEEWER 18 Inch RGB LED Ring Light but couldn't figure out how to work it. The seller was very helpful in guiding me to find the best ring light for my uses. They have been communicating with me, giving very clear instructions on how to put together my new ring light, which is not as complex as the first one I ordered. The ring light I have now is the NEEWER Ring Light 18inch Kit, and I highly recommend it for anyone who does not need a technically advanced ring light. And if you have any issues, just contact the seller--they go above and beyond to help.

The base isn't sturdy, which could render the light useless
I'm not sure if I should take one star or two stars for the fact that this light is super top heavy and leans because the base is not sturdy. The functionality of the light itself is really great, but if it can't stand then it's not really great is it? I haven't used the little remote yet, so I can't give any feedback on that. I will say that it was incredibly difficult to figure out how to attach the actual light to the stand because it is not described in the small picture directions, nor could I find any video online on Amazon or YT that could show me how. I wrestled with it for a long time until I accidentally did something that adjusted it. Took me a minute to recreate it. Once you know how to though, it's easy to adjust the light on the flexible rod that's included with a ball socket for swivel. This is a plug-in light, so it's portable, but you need to have access to an outlet. I'm not a fan of how the flexible rod attaches to the light; it is too small for the whole and the screw is supposed to make it tighten and sturdy but it doesn't at all. Again, the base is not stable either. I've seen other lights by this brand, I own another light by this brand, that has a different style of base that's super sturdy because there's reinforcement. I don't know why this very heavy on the top light has a practically flimsy base. I think I do have to give it three stars, because you can't adjust it as you need to without fear of it falling over, which it often does. On a good note, there are lots of settings for the lights. There's a setting for response to noise/sounds/music, there are lots of other modes too including flashing lights like police red and blue lights, solid lights and different colors, the ability to dim or to brighten, and it comes with warm panels for the light too. Brightness on this lamp is great! The assembly of the lamp light was pretty quick and easy, except for attaching the actual ring like to stand.

Overall, quite happy with the product. The ring becomes top heavy at any bent angle especially if you're trying to get a solid 'top down' shot This one offered more features for the light itself which is why I went with it. And there are A LOT of features It's not for everyone and is definitely a better item for specific needs. The power supply gets quite hot if on a medium to High setting for anything over 3-4hrs. On low level settings, I seem to get 7-9hrs before it gets hot but that depends primarily on the colour's and brightness being used

it worked for two weeks, now it wont stop changing colors going lighter and brighter to darker on its own

This is a decent 18" (or 19.3" rather) RGB LED ring light kit that includes a tripod with gooseneck, phone mount, and a ball head with cold shoe. It includes everything except a remote that I believe is the biggest downside, for me anyway. The overall build quality seems decent although some components are better than others but they nonetheless work just fine without issues. Admittedly these aren't the best that I've come across (more than a dozen) in terms of overall value but the ring light itself does have a fairly decent (albeit somewhat typical) set of features, high usability, and performance. ≡ Ring light The 18" RGB LED ring light is fairly well-constructed although I'm not particularly fond of how it's constructed around the base and the material (all plastic) used for the entire construction. I'm also not a big fan of how it's attached to the tripod/stand along with how the phone/camera is attached to the ring light (on top of the plastic shell that also houses the electronics and the controls (HSI/CCT). It's also quite large at around 49 cm in outer diameter (36 cm for inner diameter) and it's in fact larger than anticipated; I didn't realize just how big a ring light could be with a 49cm (19.3") diameter. It's also fairly hefty and it's not exactly portable when coupled with the tripod stand; however, the biggest issue is that it does NOT come with a rechargeable battery so unless you have an AC outlet nearby, well, you'd be out of luck. It comes with a 60W (15V/4A) AC/DC adapter and the ring light uses a traditional DC barrel connector. I suppose you could use a power bank for it provided that you have the appropriate USB/DC adapter that's capable of 60W. In any event, that's an additional cost that not everyone is willing to accept. It's rated at 42W which is quite high in comparison to most other potable ring lights and it does in fact come with a 60W AC/DC adapter that's ETL listed, which is nice. It would be HIGHLY desirable if this can be powered by USB-C via PD3 since that's well within the limit of what PD3 can provide (up to 100W) which would've eliminated the need for YET another adapter but also could cut the cost down (provided that there is an option to purchase one without the AC/DC adapter). Having a USB-C interface also makes it slightly easier for those who wanna use a power bank to provide better portability. It has stepless control for color temps (from 2500K to 10000K) although I have to say it does NOT look like 10000K to me. In addition, it has stepless (1%) brightness adjustments which I do appreciate; both the color temp and the brightness can be adjusted independently via the knobs at either side of the base. The LED display is reasonably easy to work with although it's typical of most others of similar design and style (i.e. ring lights, light bars etc). The brightness levels are fairly consistent based on the measurements of the current drawn and that's usually (but not always) indicative of an overall good design quality but I guess we'll see. ≡ Tripod The tripod/stand with gooseneck is also reasonably well-constructed and for the most part works as expected without issues. The tripod is a bit cheap in my eyes considering the price tag of this entire set. It's rather basic with the typical height adjustments along with forward/backward tilt via the gooseneck (attached separately to the tripod stand which I do appreciate). The tripod stand is adequately steady on a flat surface and I don't see any issues with it being used outdoors although the LED ring light is probably NOT gonna be adequate (not even close) to be used outdoor but that really depends on your specific application and/or needs. ≡ Ball head/phone mount It also comes with a cheap/basic phone mount and a typical ball head with cold shoe. The ball head/cold shoe is entirely made of metal which is nice; however, the cell phone mount is amongst some of the cheapest I've come across, unfortunately. Btw, the phone mount uses the typical spring-loaded mechanism that I'm NOT a big fan of but that's of course a personal preference. ≡ Remote control Unfortunately, it does NOT come with a remote which I believe should REALLY be included instead of relying on a cell phone and the app which (again) I'm not a big fan of since I already have way too many apps and the fact that I don't need another data mining tool on my phone. The lack of a remote control is in my mind what really drives down the overall value for me especially when considering its overall usability and portability. Btw, it does come with a BT remote control for camera/shutter should you find it useful. ≡ Value All things considered, this is a decent LED ring light kit that comes with a tripod stand with gooseneck, [cheap] phone mount, and a ball head with cold shoe. It's powered ONLY by AC (an ETL listed AC/DC adapter is included) which means it's not exactly portable. It's also fairly hefty and I'm not entirely certain if that's something I wanna be carrying around. Btw, a carrying bag is included, which is nice. What's really lacking for me personally though is the remote control so I don't have to rely on my cell phone for this to work, well, remotely. Individually, none of these really shines with the exception of the ring light itself, and as a whole they provide moderately decent value based on how much they cost. They are a bit pricey at $230 for what they provide and their overall build quality, features, usability, and performance.

This is a very large ring light! When assembled on the stand with the gooseneck attachment, at full height the ring light is almost 7 feet tall. It casts a very bright light and has many configuration options. For the most control, you need to download the Neewer app onto your phone and connect to the light via Bluetooth. The entire thing comes with an oversized carry bag with a special zippered slot at the bottom for the light stand (which was a bit of a tight fit, I wish it was a little bit bigger in diameter). Included in the kit are the zippered case, the stand, the gooseneck attachment, the ring light itself, the AC adapter, a cold shoe adapter and a spring-loaded cell phone holder, and a keychain sized remote trigger for controlling your phone. From the back of the ring light itself there are a few buttons and knobs and a display which lets you control all the basic functions. You can turn the light on and off, change the brightness, and dial in hue and saturation values which change the colour overall. You can also set it to a sound-activated mode, or set one of a series of special effect lighting modes, which you select by highlighting one of the 18 tiny icons. With only the knobs and buttons there is no real way to configure any options for these modes from the panel. There is also no way to dial in an exact RGB color, only HSI (hue and saturation) or CCT (color temperature) modes. You get a little more control if you download the phone app and connect to it via Bluetooth. Here you at least can now see verbal descriptions of the icons in the effects modes, in case you didn't know what they were. I think some of them would be useful for video production or stage effects, such as the "TV screen", "paparazzi", "cop car", "defective bulb", etc. In the app you also have more fine control over the settings, such as the color of the effects. There's a large array of options but I still feel some are missing, again there is no ability to dial in an RGB color nor does there seem to be a way to save custom color presets. Some of the effect modes would be more effective if you could dial in more options. For example the "candlelight" mode would be more convincing if the flickering light were yellower like a flame. One other note, even with the plastic diffusers installed, the discrete LED pixels are definitely viewable to the human eye. Overall this is a very versatile light with lots of attachment and adjustment options. You can use it for traditional lighting work, as a key light or background light, or an effect light with numerous built in presets. It can even be used as a party light with the music-sensitive effects. I just wish there was a little more control in the app.

It's pretty hard to see from the product pictures but this product is a little odd. The ring light itself is a little bit on the bulkier side but the weirdest aspect is how the diffuser cover is made up of so many pieces.... They do surprisingly do a great job at diffusing light without any notable artifacts. While the diffuser is removable, LED lights are quite harsh without them so I would recommend keeping them on. It does require a little bit gentler handling due to the numerous panel, but the overall lighting quality is excellent. Other than that, there are many nice aspects to the design of this product. The included carrying bag fits everything, including the light stand in a separate zippered compartment at the bottom. The light can be controlled with the interface itself or through the Neewer app, which works quite well. While some might consider it a flaw to not have its own dedicated remote control for it, but I don't think it is necessary as the wireless control might run into conflict if operated simultaneously by accident. Though one important aspect to bear in mind before purchasing this item is the sheer size of it. Regardless of the thickness of the ring, it is still an 18 inch ring light. So not only will it take up quite a bit of room, it will require a bit more space to utilize the light effectively, as standing too close to it might give uneven lighting artifacts despite the good diffusion. On the other hand, this product does provide an interesting use case for macro and product photography too, since the ring is so large that you can fit all sorts of lenses through it. Overall, this is a pretty impressive kit. A bit pricier given the flexibility in terms of connection and connectivity, but I do really wish the diffuser was made differently... like a larger, single panel. Thankfully the way it is built as it is doesn't really cause any problems to the result of the emitted light.
