There's some kind of Planet Terror renaissance going on - I had to order this from Amazon as the day I went into HMV to buy it they had sold all their copies (7) that morning. Having finally watched it, I can understand why.Robert Rodriguez makes a very special kind of film - irreverent, gross, subversive, outrageous, packed with great music and full of truly enjoyable moments. Despite the content they're a genuine joy to watch, and Planet Terror is no exception. With tongue firmly in cheek, all the men are heroes, all the women are stunning, all the violence is indulgent and exaggerated, and heads explode all over the place.I don't care how crass or silly or low-brow it is - Planet Terror is a film clearly made by someone who truly loves and really enjoys making films that are genuinely entertaining. I wish Rodriguez had convinced Salma Hayek to appear in it, but it's still worth every one of the 5 stars.

All you need to know about ‘Planet Terror’ is that, due to events I won’t go into in great detail, a former stripper gets her leg replaced by a machine gun. Once ‘attached’ she can then fire it with pinpoint accuracy (let’s not go into exactly HOW she can fire a gun with a trigger at ‘knee height’) and even shoot missiles into the floor which propel her through the air, allowing her to leap over walls.If that concept sounds like the biggest load of tosh you’ve ever heard, then you’re probably better off not bothering with this one. However, if you think that sounds like the craziest and/or coolest thing you’ve ever heard of, then give Planet Terror a try.If you sit through it you’ll find a zombie film that’s actually got quite a big budget, only it’s concealed within a movie that prides itself on looking cheap and B-movie-like. There’s a whole host of famous actors in it (many famous for their B-movie roles), more gore than you could ever wish for and did I mention there’s a stripper with a machine gun for a leg?You’ll either love it or hate it. Judging from what other reviews are saying, it’s more of a ‘guy’s film’ but, if you’re generally a fan of cheesy action, explosions and crazy goings on, then you’ll find it all here (and more).

Originally one half of Grindhouse, a double feature which was made as a tribute to exploitation films, Robert Rodriquez's Planet Terror now stands alone as a cheerfully retrograde thriller with scratched prints, missing reels, sex, violence, and explosions. I prefer Quentin Tarantino's half, Death Proof, which had stronger dialogue and characters, but Terror has its moments.After a trailer for Machete, which Rodriguez later made into an actual film, we're shown a Texas town which has been infected with DC2, a chemical that turns people into zombies. Go-go dancer Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan) hitches a lift from her ex, gunslinger El Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), when they're besieged by zombies who take one of Cherry's legs. They go to a hospital where married doctors William (Josh Brolin) and Dakota Block (Mary Shelton) work. Wray's picked up by Sheriff Hague (Michael Biehn), who despises but is forced to trust him when all hell breaks loose. Meanwhile, Lt. Muldoon (Bruce Willis), seeking help for his infected men, strikes a deal with DC2's owner, Abby (Naveen Andrews).There's an extent to which you can accept the film's flaws as homage, but to be entertaining it should also transcend them and tell a good story. Planet Terror's plot is a bunch of threads which seem like they might develop but dead end. Why was William Block a psycho? Was Dakota gay? How did the restaurant catch fire? How did Cherry not know what was in her jacket when she'd owned it for months, even years, probably? Who's Wray and what's his backstory? A couple of these are explained, though not answered, by a purportedly missing reel; the film pauses to show a fake apology for absent footage, then cuts back with stuff having happened in the meantime. That's cute, but annoying to anyone who wants a side of plot with their homage. Planet Terror's no better than a thousand other action films, and pastiche can't change that.It does, however, have some pleasures. The gore's genuinely disgusting; skulls are hollowed, limbs rot etc. It's the kind of gore which is fun without getting depressing. I also liked the 80s sci-fi/horror soundtrack; it has a haunting, melancholic quality which I also enjoyed in films like The Terminator and The Thing. It lends the film an edge that it doesn't really deserve. The performances are good, even from Tarantino, who's been knocked as an actor but can be a lot of fun in the right cameo. Here he plays an aggressive predator, and his breathless mugging balances a scene that could have ventured into mean-spiritedness. Fergie from Black Eyed Peas has a cameo too, and surprisingly isn't bad. McGowan does well as Cherry, though she takes the role a bit seriously; some self-awareness wouldn't have gone amiss. My favourite performance was Shelton's as Dakota; her jumpy, mascara-stained acting hits all the right notes. Rodriguez is also just right as the solemn Wray. Planet Terror's not great, but it's an amiable pastime.

Planet Terror!! I saw this in a tiny little independent Cinema in the middle of Winter! They had electric heaters running but you still needed a coat! Yet I get the impression this is the kind of experience and place you should see this movie. A grindhouse cinema for a grindhouse movie. Plenty of out of this world acting and action, wild effects and digitally added grain to the film. I love the cast and the absurdity of this movie it is one for the books.

This is the R1 extended & unrated DVD of Planet Terror.It's a two disc package & the picture qualityis...well it's Grindhouse. So all those 'burns','flickers', jumps & pauses are all part of theaesthetic. It's 2.35:1 widescreen and the picturefills all the screen on a modern TV. What a film!,it's a gorehounds paradise, it's my paradise.Effortlessly funny and fantastic with splashy KNB FXaplenty, pure entertainment. Extras: commentary,audience reaction track, trailer & poster gallery,10 min film school with Rodriguez & more.You could do a lot worse than watch this.2007. Run time: 1hr 45min 27secs.972-FTY

It is what it is. Well done B Movie fare with good acting and good production. Stunts are well done and the action is well directed. The action is comedic rather than terrorizing but done with a straight face and fast moving. Disc 2 is just self indulgence but movie types will appreciate it.I really enjoyed it but don't want to watch it again unless I had "buddies and a six pack" round

Für mich hat sich der Kauf sehr gelohnt. Den Film an und für sich kenne ich schon und kann ihn jeden empfehlen, der auf etwas trashige Slasher Movies im alten Stil steht. Auch das Pendant Death Proof ist absolut sehenswert. Das wichtige bei Grindhouse ist, dass die Filme mit den selben Charakteren spielen, aber in jedem Film andere Figuren im Vordergrund stehen. Der Plottwist kommt dann bei Planet Terror. Und das ist einfach was den Stil von Rodriguez ausmacht. Diese plötzlichen Wendungen, die niemand erwartet.Aber nun zur DVD. Ich habe Planet Terror noch nicht in meiner Sammlung gehabt. Nun hatte ich gehört, dass es nur noch die gekürzte Fassung zu kaufen gibt. Soweit stellte das für mich kein Problem da, da es auch die Fassung ist die mich damals überzeugt hat. Allerdings wollte ich schon gern die ungekürzte Fassung. Ich habe sie hier über die Gebraucht kaufen-Funktion gefunden. Es war einmal eine Videotheken-DVD. Ich hatte Glück und bekam die DVD in der Aluminiumbox, die es sonst nur in der Kanisterbox gibt. Ich hatte mir dann nach langer Zeit den Film wieder angesehen in der längeren Fassung. Der Film lief ohne Fehler und ich bin echt begeistert.Verpackung und Lieferungszeit waren voll okay.

Una película que es de lo más exagerada, estúpida pero eso es lo que la hace fascinante.La edición blu ray importada incluye una inmensa cantidad de extras que no tiene la edición nacional. Para empezar son dos discos, se incluye la película en su formato original (como si estuviera dañada) y su versión limpia, por lo que tienes dos versiones de la misma película para que la veas de la manera que más te agrade.A esto se le suma una excelente cantidad de extras que te dejaran fascinado si eres fan de los zombies o del cine gore. No es una película para todos, es extremadamente violenta, tonta, sin sentido pero eso la hace un clásico instantáneo del cine de horror cómico.

Un Fantasy, Horror, Splatter performante.Un cast di tutto rispetto molto ben integrato nelle parti assegnate. Spappolamenti, decapitazioni, teste che esplodono e chi più ne ha più ne metta. Quando Rodriguez si accoppia con il suo amicone Tarantino tira fuori l'essenza dello splatter. Di grande effetto le interpreti femminili.All'inizio appare un fake trailer di Machete.Un gas militare trasforma in zombie cannibali chi lo respira.Il comparto video per una volta tanto non lo valuto con il solito sistema altrimenti dovrei fgettare tutto nell'immondizia. E' tutto un susseguirsi di riprese a moò di pellicola rovinata con una moltitudine di pelucchi, per passare a rumore video elevatissimo, per passare ad una qualità quasi decente ma mai di ottima fattura quindi i vari primi piani risentono di tutte queste variazioni.La colorimetria a volte molto forte e a volte un pò sbiadita; la luminosità anch'essa subisce molte varianti.Voto: da 6 a 8Il comparto audio invece è il piatto forte, DTS HD MA 5.1 molto performante. Il mixaggio è ottimo. Dinamica buona/ottima. Iniziato ad ascoltarlo a -20 db e li l'ho lasciato perchè altrimenti si alzava un pò troppo. Buona/ottima la resa delle voci con una buona tonalità e corposità.Buona/ottima l'ambienza resa dai diffusori surround. I bassi ogni tanto si fanno sentire come si deve.Voto: 8,7Ottimo il comparto degli extra con molto materiale disponibile.Non è una pellicola adatta ad apprezzare la qualità dei Tv ad alta risoluzione, nonostante possa essere fedele a quanto voluto dal regista.

Hab davon mehr erwartet, außer Ekel und Krawumm. Schrott. Als Horro-Komödie mag es vllt manche Leutebegeistern, aber als ernsthafter Horrorfilm? Endlose-Ekel-Gewalt-Blutmatsch. Da wollte ich nur noch zum Ende kommen... Sehr schade, mehr erhofft bei dem ein oder andren Darsteller und der Story. Handlung?

Seconde partie du diptyque Grindhouse, Planète Terreur (2007) est le film qui caractérise le mieux le style de Robert Rodriguez.Fort de ses références cinématographiques au cinéma de genre des années 70 et 80, Rodriguez nous propose un long-métrage décalé et outrancier, avec des zombies, du gore en veux-tu en voilà, des filles sexy (il faut voir Rose McGowan) et de l'humour. On ne s'ennuie pas ! Quant au casting, il est tout simplement mortel (Bruce Willis, excellent, et les autres sont très bons aussi).Planète Terreur est proche d'un film d'horreur, mais le cantonner à ce seul genre serait absurde, tant l'ensemble est à prendre au second degré. Un film qui fait un bien fou.

Il film è secondo me uno dei più riusciti di Rodriguez. Se lo conoscete sapete cosa aspettarvi, altrimenti cercate il parere di qualcuno più esperto di me.Riguardo il blu-ray invece, la qualità audio e video è eccellente e i contenuti speciali meritano. Consigliatissimo quello intitolato "10 minuti di scuola di cinema", in cui è mostrato come sono riusciti a realizzare tutta una serie di scene ed effetti speciali.

Film gore et beau à la fois !! Le scénario tient le coup, un gaz transforme les gens en zombie qui mange d'autres gens (petite pensée à Fergir !!) !! On ne s'attend à tomber sur Bruce Willis dans le casting, mais il tient vraiment bien son rôle !! Naveen Andrews (Lost) est super également, en collectionneur de couilles !! Rose McGowan est hyper sexy et joue parfaitement !!Toujours Quentin Tarentino a son petit rôle et il est toujours fantastique, en gros pervers !!Robert Rodriguez nous surprend toujours dans ces réalisations et là ça vaut vraiment le coup d’œil pour un film trash et gore à souhait !!Je recommande vivement aux amateurs du genre !!

La manera en la que esta rodada hace que vuelvas a los 80, esta se estreno tambien en cines como en aquella epoca, es decir dos peliculas por precio de una, aqui en Amazon se podria decir lo mismo ya que el precio de las dos peliculas casi te salia como el precio de una, Amazon de 10 en todo, ademas esta edicion del Reino Unido viene en perfecto castellano.

Rispetto al primo film LENTO E DECISAMENTE UN PO' TROPPO HORROR-TRASH..questo secondo capitolo è nettamente piu' bello...!!Supersexy l'attrice principale ROSE MCGOWAN...e bravi anche gli attori tra cui spicca il figlio di ROBERT RODRIGUEZ.e il mitico BRUCE WILLIS...!!straordinario anche il cameo di QUENTIN TARANTINO...nei panni del MANIACO..CONTAGIATO...!!

Avevo questo bluray in wishlist e ho aspettato un calo di prezzo per acquistarlo. Preso con l'offerte 3x2 qui su amazon. Non male...

Der Film ist Kult, viele bekannte Schauspieler standen Schlange um hier mitzuspielen - leider ist es ein gekürzte Version! Schade eigentlich!

Audio perfetto.Video perfetto con una resa davvero cinematografica.Film capolavoro del suo genere.Edizione perfetta.Spedizione come sempre velocissima.

I loved it. If you want a Hollywood production then this movie might not be for you. It's like a classic movie but better make up. It has over acting, humor, action, and some gore, which equals a perfect movie.

Amo questi film che riprendono le linee dei B-movie anni 70'-80'. Ho anche gli altri film nella mia collezione. Ci sono poche differenze con la versione DVD però il prezzo è interessante. Come al solito tempi di consegna ottimi. Consigliato.

I really like this movie. But I am 65 and was always a fan of the drive in movies. I loved the whole feel of the film, it was pure fun and entertainment
