A great kit - quite a small model but possible to make a really attractive showpiece. I was meant to do this with my seven year old son but he was pretty clumsy so I made him watch TV while I had the fun.

really brings home the diference in size of the diferent typs of ship I've made models in this scale before mainly battleships so I now realise how big they were

Very good product and service
The model was sent from Hong Kong, and arrived in UK within a week. The model is actually quite easy, and could be completed (minus the painting) within a three or four hours. Everything fits, everything looks right...your usual Tamiya excellence. The paint job is quite challenging; painting on the sprue is (apparently) the best approach, although I managed OK by painting the various chunks before cementing them onto the hull itself. All in all, a pleasure!

Too small
OK so its a 1/350 model. But if it had been of a slightly larger scale I think it would have more fun to build. As it is the model is too small, the parts on the sprue are rather delicate to say the least, some parts whilst removing them have broken. I am an avid fan of Tamiya models having built several of them before Bismark, KG5, Missouri etc which are great models and also of a decent size. I'm afraid the USS Fletcher does not float my boat, it is just too small.

Why send it in a paper envelope
The model is fine but who in their right minds packs a model in a paper envelope.the box is very damaged but I’m lucky the lit seems ok.Not worth the effort of returning.
