Lid actually opens to clean.
I thought this lid held water and was ready to leave a bad review, but it does come apart with a simple twist. Little tip, have the lid in the open and up position to twist the bottom of it off and back on.

Cute whale thermos
My three year old goes to daycare and this year they stopped serving lunches so he has to take his lunch. I got this thermos to send him with some warm meals once in a while. He loves the thermos and it holds just enough food for the little guy to eat in addition to his fruit and snack.The wide mouth makes it easy to fill and to eat from and to clean afterward. Hand washing is recommended. The thermos is vacuum sealed so there won't be any spilling or leaking. The inside is stainless so the food will be safe to eat. The thermos will keep his food warm until lunch time. Mac n cheese is his favorite in his thermos.Recommended for your little one.
