Reliable
I’ve been using CloserPets feeders for about four years now. My first one lasted around three years before one of the doors stopped opening, so I ended up replacing it. I’ve had a total of four now, and honestly, I still like them. A few tips from experience: I change out the batteries every three months and only use regular batteries, not rechargeable ones. Rechargeables might show a full charge, but I’ve found they don’t always hold up long enough or stay consistent. I use these feeders because I feed my cats wet food, they don’t really get kibble, and this helps me make sure they get their meals when I’m not home. They eat about three times a day, so this setup really helps when I’m working or out running errands. The ice block is decent, but it doesn’t stay cold as long as I’d like, especially since I live in the desert. Even with the AC on, it warms up pretty fast in the summer. In the winter months, it stays cooler longer. I actually find that gel-style ice packs work much better, and I wish the company would update their design to include something like that. There is some condensation buildup, I always wipe the unit down and let it air out after each use because I worry about mold. If you feed raw, I wouldn’t recommend this model. There are some feeders out there with built-in cooling systems (semi-conductors) that might be better for that, but even then, I’m not sure how safe they are long term. My cats eat homemade cooked food mixed with canned cat food, and this feeder works great for that. I did try another brand that had a cooling feature, it is solely electric with no battery backup. Once, while I was away working for 14 hours, we had a power outage and the feeder completely reset. My cats didn’t get their meals that whole day. Where I live, power outages happen sometimes from storms or high winds, so that was a dealbreaker for me. That’s actually what made me go back to using the CloserPets feeder, I like that it’s battery operated and reliable. One last thing: if you get a model that comes with a plastic feeding tray, I really recommend upgrading it to stainless steel. Even if the plastic is labeled BPA-free or pet safe, it can still cause cat acne or allergies. It’s just better to use stainless steel or ceramic dishes for your cats.

Good low-tech automatic feeder
I wanted a low tech automatic feeder for my cat that works consistently. She gets rather persistent if she's not fed by a certain time. I only put dry food in it, and didn't need one that had a cool pack. This has worked out well. The timer and unit seem well built and the timer is easy to move and feels sturdy. The pan size is more than sufficient for her morning portion of food. Once it's open, it stays open. As others have said, the timer keeps moving so when you need to reset it and close the lid, you have to move the dial back to the arrow to close the lid, then set the timer. That's not a problem for me. The only complaint I have is the stainless steel pan insert. It doesn't feel like other stainless steel pans I have for my pets. It's lightweight and thin, doesn't feel completely like stainless steel, and has a matte coating on it that needs to be wiped clean each day, even with dry food. I thought at first some sort of ding when it opened would be needed, but my cat seems to hear it open and gets her food. Some have indicated the timer isn't accurate. I'd say it's within 15 minutes of when I set it. Since the hour/ half-hour markings are close together, I might be setting it for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 45. But for what I need it for, that works out fine and is close enough. I cannot hear the timer ticking. The only way I hear it is if I put my ear right next to the unit. So happy I now can sleep without my furbaby crying for her food. The only additions I'd want is if it had a slow feeder insert option, and a stand that holds it in place securely. All the slower feeder inserts are too large to fit in the pan - in both width and height. I rigged up a raised stand and put some weights in it. She can still move it around if she is trying to get it open. The first few nights, she tried to open it to no avail. She's stopped pawing at after a few days, and has not been able to get it open. Happy with this purchase thus far, especially for the price.

quiet, reliable, easy to clean, cat took to it immediately, uses it daily
I am finding this Closer C100 single dish cat feeder is working exactly as described. Note that this uses an electronic timer, not a clock. You can set it maybe 1/4 hour ahead, up to 24 hours ahead, with continuous rotation marked in 1/4 hour increments. The feeder operates silently as time passes and at release, there is no ticking, and no chime or other noise to alert the pet that the feeder has opened. I also purchased the Cat Mate stainless steel bowl inserts to use in the Closer feeder. The bowl inserts are identical to the original stainless steel bowl. They fit snugly, just as the original does. The accompanying paperwork shares the Closer name. https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Steel-Inserts-Automatic-Feeders/dp/B0949PMWP6 The 1st alkaline battery I've installed has lasted a month so far. I did read that the battery continues to drain whether a timer is set or not, so I am prepared that the feeder may abruptly fail to open. There is no indicator light or display to alert you to battery condition. A single missed meal may be upsetting to our cat, but not a huge problem. If we were to need a 2nd meal to be automatically dispensed, I would prefer a 2nd single feeder, primarily because both would be unlikely to fail at the same time. But the 2-bowl feeder does have separate timers up to 48 hours in 1 hour increments, so if you need a weekend covered, that would be necessary. Maybe test or refresh the batteries regularly.

Nothing Fancy but Gets the Job Done
UPDATE: changing from 4 stars down to 1. The timer on one side stopped working after about a year. I didnt have time to research other brands so I just bought this same brand again. Big mistake. Within the first month the timers on both sides started acting up. As of this writing they both open an hour later than they are supposed to. That's too much of a discrepancy. My cat is a senior and has stomach issues. If she doesn't eat on time she throws up. Can no longer recommend this feeder. Been using this auto feeder for my cat for about 4 months now and it's great if you don't need it to open at a precise time. It will only open up "around" the time you need it to open, which is fine for my cat but may not be for your pet. For example: I set it to open in 7 hours at 7 am but it will sometimes open at 6:50 am and at other times, not until 7:20 am. You also can't set it in 30 minute increments. For example: You can set it for 7 hrs or 8 hrs but cannot set it for 7 1/2 hrs. Other set backs, if your cat isn't anywhere near the feeder, they will not hear it open. That's not a problem for my cat though, because she sleeps near her feeder, plus she knows around when it will open so she sits and waits for it. Additionally, I live in a very small place, and when it's very late at night and super quiet, I can hear the timer ticking. Some people may not be bothered by that but I don't like it. Another issue is with the ice pack (I have 2), they are made of what seems to be a good, strong, hard plastic, but sometimes they freeze weird and then they don't sit flat in the feeder. However, even when this happens, it still works and the bowls lay flat and you can close the feeder so not really a big problem. Also, it's battery operated so be sure to use a good battery brand and change them out regularly to ensure it will open when you are not home. Lastly, when not in use, you can't close the lids. Maybe there is a way to do so, but I can't remember now if it came with instructions and I just didn't read that part. But I just leave the tops open and when I travel with it, I just use a large rubber band to hold them down in place. Overall, for the price point, it's a pretty good feeder if you're not looking for anything fancy or complicated. It's basic, simplistic and gets the job done. * Forgot to mention, if you use wet food and plan to set the timer for more than just a couple hours or overnight, you can freeze the food first so it will stay fresher longer and not spoil.

Effective and a good value but a bit annoying
Works as advertised and at a very reasonable price, a good choice to solve the problem of feeding wet food to your kitty and keeping it fairly cool. I very much like that it came with stainless steel inserts. If it was priced any higher, however, I would have been unhappy with it. This is because the way you set the time with the dial doesn't allow for much precision. The dials are also difficult to get a grip on to turn. Finally, I'm very sensitive to noises and I found that the ticking of the dials (just like a wall clock) was extremely annoying - it even keeps ticking when the doors are both open. Oh, one more thing: you will really need two of the ice packs, so that you can always keep one in the freezer. Luckily they seem to be a standard size and one that I already had fit in it, so I didn't need to spend extra to address that deficiency. I'm not sure how long the ice pack can really keep things cool; the longest I ever set it for was 8 hours. Still, a heck of a lot better than nothing.

Love a full nights sleep!
This worked perfect and very simple to set. Takes just one AA battery. You pop the lid, put in the amount of food for the serving you want, and set the timer on top for the number of hours ahead you want it open and that's it. It kept my cat from waking me up at 4:00 AM every day, biting at me and pulling my hair, walking all over me until I got up to feed him. He's also diabetic so it's great that I can easily portion the food myself and be certain of what he will get. My cat is also a true scaredy cat so I was concerned he might not go near it if it made noise or run if the lid popped up. But you can barely hear the faint ticking of the timer with your ear right on it and he's not afraid of it, he ate the food and let me sleep a few more hours. It has a nice size stainless steel dish that is removable to wash. I highly recommend, very happy with this product and hope it keeps on working.

Worked perfectly while I was away!
I bought the Closer Pets C200 automatic feeder for my small dog before going on vacation since our caretaker could only come once a day. It worked perfectly! Both trays opened right on time, and my dog had no trouble eating from it. I didn’t use the ice pack since it doesn’t stay cold for a full 12 hours, but that wasn’t a big deal for me. The feeder is easy to set up, simple to clean, and the stainless steel bowls are a nice touch. Great little gadget for keeping your pet fed on schedule when you’re not home.

Did what I needed it to
This worked perfectly for soft food for the 24 hours I had to be away. I gave it 4 stars for a couple reasons: 1) there needs to be noise when it opens so my cat knows! His morning meal was still there when I got home. He never knew to come eat it. I’ll probably just add a bell or something myself. 2) I don’t like that when the timer hits 0 it continues ticking and just starts over again. When it’s quiet you can hear it. Plus it wastes the battery, so I just took the battery out. Both of these are minor issues that honestly could be fixed pretty easily by the company that makes it. It did what I needed it to though. ** side note: If I was going to be gone 36- 48-hours I don’t know if the food would stay cold. I did what some people said in the reviews and froze the soft food that was going to be sitting the longest. When I got home it was a little cool still but not cold. So be aware of that. Overall if you are just needing something for a quick trip away, this works well!

truly cat proof!
So far this feeder seems to be break-in proof! I had an older model for a previous cat which my current cat could pop open in less than 2 minutes flat, which rendered it completely useless so I gave it away. This one has held up to multiple attempts to break in over hours at a time! So far he hasn't managed to flip it over, either, which is also important. I think the only down side is that the cat knows there is food in it, and he really wants to get to it. So I think it may cause a bit of stress, but I think this will still be better than not getting a feeding at his normal lunch time if I am away. I am overall very pleased with this feeder.

Quiet and durable
This has been a lifesaver as my kitten loves to wake me at 5am every day for breakfast. It’s quiet, there is a faint ticking noise but it doesn’t make noise when it opens. I don’t find there to be an issue with the timer, it seems to open on time. Also is durable, my kitten has tried her best to get it open and can’t, however I did have to Velcro it to my floor as she kept flipping it around my room lol. But now it’s great.
