Excellent
Both this, and other architectural books from Countryside Books are excellent. I am an interior design student and found this book indispensable when studying the Georgian era (I also used 'British Architectural Styles' by Trevor Yorke - which I would also recommend highly). The illustrations are very good, and the text to the point and readable - although this is a 'simple' book, it is by no means 'simplistic', and is a perfect introduction to the subject. Small enough to put in your bag (or a large pocket!)- it is invaluable for taking out and about with you if you are interested in historical architecture.

clear and concise reference book
Faced with the choice of several reference books on Georgian architecture I picked this as you could look at it via the 'preview'button so I knew roughly what to expect. It's a handy small size so it can be tucked in a bag or large pocket if you like getting out and about looking at various buildings. There's a huge amount of photos with many done as detailed close-ups and I found it good they are all back and white so your eye is not detracted by colour. The author takes individual components such as doors, windows, roofs etc and talks in detail about them but also goes through the compositon and architectural decor of various rooms.I puchased it specifically as a reference book to decorate my Georgian style dolls house but it's a must-have for anyone generally interested in architecture.

Great information in a compact form
This book has been very helpful in researching the Georgian and Regency (Late Georgian) styles of London. It contains both illustrations of how rooms would look as well as black and white photographs of real details to assist in identifying buildings. It also has a few illustrations of interior details like fireplaces, mouldings, ironworking and stairs as well as how certain aspects of the house worked mechanically. It's 128 pages including the index.
