Does the job nice
Easy install, it works and powers my system, fans work great and it cools well, a little loud "clicking" noise when you turn off the I/O by the actual plug, other than that it's just good.

Great PSU, Shame about the cables
So the RM650 itself is near silent, and installation was made much easier and cleaner thanks to being able to plug in whichever end made more sense first. Generally it's all the good quality I've come to expect from corsair. I do, however, have to take exception to their choice of cabling to include with the PSU. Granted they didn't have to include any cable but, gift horse dentistry aside, the cables are simply horrible. they're flat ribbon types which are pretty stiff and inflexible, and I have no idea why they thought to include two identical CPU cables, but not include a single headed 6+2 pin PCIE cable for the GPU. If you want to do a good job on your install, buy yourself some nicer cables alongside the PSU, otherwise it's a perfectly cromulent bit of kit that I'm sure will last for years to come.

Good Value, easy fit
Being fully modular makes installation easy and since replacing the one that failed my system runs faster and cooler, which I do not understand but is a great benefit.

Great piece of kit and quiet too
I needed to buy a new PSU for a new build as the motherboard had an 8-pin power socket for the processor and the existing PSU only had a 4-pin plug. I particularly liked the idea that I only had to plug cables into the PSU the power cables I needed to use and in doing so did not have a jungle of excess cables to contend with. The kit also includes cable ties so you can tidy up after installation.

Wrong cable will blow hard disks
I bought this PSU as a replacement for a failed Seasonic PSU in an existing build. The Corsair RM650 was keyed to accept the existing Seasonic cable but apparently, despite the SATA power connection pins being physically compatible, the pins are wired to different voltages, which caused a short circuit and blew out $300 worth of hard disks. To the unit's credit the short protection did kick in, but this did not save any of the disks on the power line. Why the modular cables are wired differently when they are pin compatible escapes me but this is the design the manufacturer has chosen. The unit did not come with a pin voltage diagram. I should have gone with a dirt cheap non-modular PSU instead of this supposedly "neater" modular end-consumer oriented unit that comes with a hidden thunderbolt surprise mode for anyone who doesn't happen to be an electrical expert.I do not recommend that anyone use this.
