As a holiday gift for your casual friend (who probably drinks too much) this gift is great. I means it’s tits great!! Why? Keep reading1 the packaging is really done well. It has a nice rigid box. The contents are placed nicely. Very well done. So far I was impressed2. The glasses are nice. Not crystal but nice. Each has a round ice cube mold3. The packages of wood chips. Well I opened them all and they smelled the same.4 the torch is great. I had to buy butane. Cheap. It is really nice. I just then considered making crème brulle.Now the good stuff. It’s works really well. Total conversation piece. Needless to say we got pretty loaded!I would highly recommend this. I bought one for myself.

This was a great gift. My father loved all the extras and enjoyed trying each flavor out. This made drinking fun and experimental.

What do you get the man who has everything, but let's face it, enjoys a good cocktail with no the most top-shelf booze. Well, I've tried just gifting the top shelf, but he claims his Seagrams is plenty fine. I would love to argue the merits of that all day, and of course if you're my father-in-law, you would too. But I digress. Here's one twist you cannot argue with - the smokiness changes the flavor profile significantly, and enhances pretty much every coctail we've made. My favorite is pretty simple...just a smoke old fashioned. But I can honestly say - reach for the middle (or lower shelf) because it will bring out the best in a mediocre whisky. I mean the top shelf sings of course, but you can really be humbled at what a game-changer the smoke is.Its a cool gift in many way. Comes with all the accoutrements (including the torch - as stated, byo-butane) - and that's a plus, but really it comes down to looks as well. Very classy set, with many wondering - WHAT IS THAT ON TOP OF YOUR DRINK?? Is that a barrel? What's going on there? And the voila - the reveal with the smokiness climbing over the rim...its a beautful experience, and one best shared with someone who will appreciate it. And lo and behold, my father in law most certainly appreciates it! Seagrams or not. :)

When I saw this item's product listing, what I zeroed in on was the "oak cask". To ME that meant a small oak barrel to temper and flavor liquor.Well... That oak cask is about a tenth the size I expected! It is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and about 3 - 4 inches long. Included in the kit are the cask, a selection of 6 different tins containing wood chips for flavoring whatever you're smoking, 2 small Old Fashioned glasses, w small ice trays for making balls of ice, and a rather fabulous torch.The jury is still out on the smoking part. I obviously don't understand how to properly use this kit, but with some more experimentation I will get it going. I never heard of smoking a drink, but maybe I'll get the hang of that too. Right now I'm very impressed with the torch, which lights pretty much anything on fire. I've used it for a number of purposes already, including burning some of the wood chips.When I get this thing figured out I may be coming back to make this a 5 star review, but for now I'll hang with 4 stars for the mystification over how to use it...

Luckily, we had plenty from our camping stovetops, so a quick trip to the basement was all it took to fill it up.The kit boasts six different wood flavors.
