Re-sold it
Had a lot of high hopes for this product...but then I just never used it. It sounds great but truthfully it was just too much trouble to carry it around (it's definitely not something small enough to fit in your purse, but maybe in a diaper bag if you want it taking up that much room). I would rather just wipe down the table, clean up after my son, and leave a bit higher tip if the kiddo takes to destroying his food while out.

a MUST-have when dining out~
Since my son started sitting in high chairs at restaurants, I've always worried about him eating off the dirty tables (or licking them). So when I found this rubber placemat, I thought it was perfect for eating out. It takes up very little space in the diaper bag since it rolls up into its "catch tray", it's super easy to wipe clean, and it doubles as a "protective guard" so my baby doesn't hit his face against the edge of tables. The suction is pretty decent, it sticks on most surfaces. All in all, for how inexpensive it is, it is a great product!!

Summer Infant, NOT Kiddopotamus
Kiddopotamus was acquired by Summer Infant in 2008. This is a Summer Infant product, NOT Kiddopotamus. The Summer Infant ones do not have very good reviews, but I guess it's what I'm stuck with. Amazon needs to update the product details.

This is like the original!
This my experience with this mats. I first bought one back in 2007 and they were perfect for what I wanted. They were not made by Summer Infant yet. I wanted to catch the food the bib didn't during meals. It laid out flat and stuck to the table. I would say it lasted about 2 years before ripping at the corner where the catchall and the mat met. Just FYI, it will eventually rip and the catchall will lose its round shape. Then in 2010, I bought one from toysrus. I could tell immediately it was different from the first one I bought in 2007. First, it came in a tubular box and it took a long time (month) for it to flatten out and lay on the table straight. The suction cups barely worked. The texture was completely different. The original had a rubberband plastic matte feel. The second one has a plastic shiny feel. This one lasted about 6 months before it started to rip and the catchall lost its shape.Well, this past week, I decided to try again and gamble to see if I would get the first version. I did! I ordered mine from Babyhaven. As soon as I opened it, I noticed it was like the original. It immediately flattened and the texture was like the original. The packaging was even different. It came in a rectangular box. On the box, it even says "original" tiny placemat! If you are looking for this to last years, look for something else. For $11, if it lasts one full year, I am happy!

Cool idea, but it doesn't work.
I wanted to love this mat as an alternative to disposable mats in restaurants. It's so cool how it rolls up and stores in a small space. However when unrolled, it wants to curl right back up. Because it's fairly impossible to get the mat to lie flat, the suction cups won't actually stick to anything. Please note: I have pretty low expectations with suction cups in general. I don't expect magic and know I'll have to re-stick them throughout use. But this mat just doesn't stick to anything in the first place.

Great in theory
Great in theory. But my 1 year old constantly just pulls it up and throws it off the table. So it doesn't function as we had hoped.

Mostly good, cleaning can be tricky
This great for protecting the table cloth. My only gripe is that it holds on to stains for a while. Like tomato based sauce stains. Scrub all you want, but you won't be able to get rid of it. Yet after a few days, you don't see it anymore. I didn't buy it to keep it pretty, it's just an interesting observation.

Pass on this One
This item is sort of crappy. We bought it over 2 years ago and only used it once for our then 6 month old. The suction cups to not stick and it ends up being a fairly lumpy eating surface. It technically works for what it is, just not to my liking as I'm a bit picky. We ordered a different placemat for our infant that we ended up liking much better.

Great purchase
Perfect for baby led weaning when baby is sat with the family at the table. Our daughter loves sitting with us in a traditional wooden highchair, without a tray, so she's right up at the table and has this in front of her instead. Makes dining for all of us as a family very enjoyable and easy to clean and fold up when not in use, or to take to her Granny's house.

Great - baby essential!
I bought this for my 11month old, as when we go out to eat, he does tend to spread his finger food all over the table. This is very easy to roll up & put in a bag & much more hygienic than a table top. I have been really pleased with it. I only have one small complaint - the colour - in the picture it looks 'baby blue' but the one I received is more like turquoise blue. Would recommend this product though.

very happy
So far I'm very happy with this product. I haven't yet experienced the staining others have spoken of, but perhaps this is yet to come. At the moment it does exactly what is expected of it and catches all the mess, and wipes clean after every use.

Terrible Prduct
I was totally disappointed with this item. I have been looking for ages for a placemat for my son that will stay in place on the table and this really did disappoint. It was so flimsy and the suction cups were useless. A total waste of money.
