Of course some people are more sensitive to cold than are others, but for those who are, the SmartWool neck gaiter is amazing in its slim profile, form-fitting but still with enough give to get pulled up over ears and lower face as needed, and most importantly, its warmth.I don't find it itchy/scratchy, and while it's not fleece-lined soft, it also isn't bulky as are others that appear more focused on how it feels vs how it wears and warms.I very much like that I can put it on before leaving the house, and often forget I'm wearing it, until I'm, for example, getting out of the car to pump gasoline, and I'm toasty or only a quick pull up over my ears away from protective comfort.I've also found I don't get overheated when wearing it from errand to errand, in the car as we do so widely here in the USA, and the gaiter provides a terrific balance of warmth and wind-blocking to make tolerable temperature and wind swings expected when getting out of the car, walking across parking lots, entering stores, and then reversing when leaving.If you're the person who finds it miserable when your neck/ears get cold, get yourself a SmartWool neck gaiter.Again, YMMV based on your personally specific level of cold tolerance, but I find often I can endure quite nicely outside activities when it is cold and windy (talking 32deg and lower) with just a neck gaiter, a hat and some gloves.Layers for the clothing and I'm set. Set it and forget it, really, until you realize, dang it's cold out here, and then remember your SmartWool neck gaiter has enough material to rise up for face/ear protection, until you're back inside somewhere and just slide it back down to rest around your neck.I will say, as one should expect, that if you have a gaiter up over your mouth, and perhaps your nose, you're going to find the material will wick up some of that respiration moisture.I use my SmartWool neck gaiter every time I go out to shovel snow, and have learned that I can just slide it around my neck, away from my mouth, essentially then giving my face a non-moist covering. I haven't yet noticed the wet spot that has been moved elsewhere. The gaiter washes normally and nicely. I don't machine dry any of my SmartWool products, although I'd imagine drying on low heat would be adequate.Lastly, I have a SmartWool neck gaiter in all black, plus the SmartWool man logo, owned for probably 7-10 years, and it fits/feels/functions exactly as when I bought it. No joke. The stitching is solid, there are no holes, no fading, no threadbare portions worn out by who knows what. It just persists.I personally would be very bothered if I found myself somewhere cold and didn't have my SmartWool neck gaiter.One of the best, cold-weather related, purchases we've ever made. Couldn't recommend more highly than I have here.

A buff is a necessity on any serious hike or trek. In warm whether you want something lightweight that protects from the sun. But in cold weather, you need something more thermal so it has to be very comfortable. This buff is great for cold weather, very versatile. Wear it over your ears, face, or just around your neck. The smart wool is extremely comforting. The fit is great, not too tight, not too loose. Tight enough to stay in the position you want without sacrificing comfort. I highly recommend.

Used for exercising outdoors and even every day use in the winter. This neck gaiter really makes a difference! It's much more convenient than wearing a scarf! It's easy to pull up and down as needed. Smartwool, as always, washes easily. I wash it gently by hand in wool wash, roll dry in a towel and hang it to air dry. Never had an issue. You won't regret this getting one of these, in fact I suggest you get a few and leave one at home and in the car, you'll be glad you did.

It's warm and breathable, which is what I was looking for. Kept me comfortable in a storm at 25-30 F. But the fabric is a bit scratchy.

This was my favorite purchase of last winter - kept me warm without having to add too many layers. Keeping the neck warm really makes such a huge difference. Doesn’t get itchy, doesn’t pill up when washed. 100% wool and no polyester which it’s important to me! Well worth the money

Works very well, not scratchy. Doesn’t slip, breathable and most importantly keeps my face warm!!

I'm not sure if I will keep this product. The color and fabric are very nice but the small size is a concern. It's advertised as one size fits all and I have an average size head and neck. The gaiter is very small and tight to pull on. It's like putting on a tight turtleneck and very snug on. The product is described as being for men and women. While it's a tight fit for a woman, my husband wasn't able to get it on at all - too small. This product should be cut wider. I'm so disappointed.

This was a perfect buff for our winter trip down the Grand Canyon! It dried quickly, and kept my neck safe from the cold wind. It also didn’t smell bad after 2 weeks camping!
