Simple to Program, Durable, and a Great Value
The Baofeng G11S GMRS radio has been a fantastic addition to our communications toolkit. What really stands out is how easy it is to program – even for beginners. The straightforward menu system and compatibility with Chirp software make setup a breeze, which is perfect for families who may be new to radios. In practice, the G11S has proven to be reliable and consistent, with clear audio quality and strong signal range. The battery life is excellent, lasting through long outings without the need for constant recharging, which adds a layer of confidence when using it in real-world situations. I’ve been encouraging every family in my church to obtain their GMRS license, and the G11S has been a great incentive radio because of its dependability, simplicity, and affordability. It’s the perfect balance of performance and ease of use, making it ideal for both first-time users and those more experienced with radios. Overall, the Baofeng G11S is a reliable, user-friendly, and long-lasting GMRS radio that I highly recommend for families, groups, or anyone looking to build a strong communication network.

Serviceable, functional, good range and easy to use. Don't forget your GMRS license.
These GMRS radios from Baofeng work great. They are solid and have a good battery life. They stay within their frequencies for both TX and RX. I can pick up local GMRS conversations and also I can hit repeaters. I did buy Nagoya antennas for them, and that really helps with the range. I live in an area of town full of single-family homes and get a range of at least 5 miles. I always grab this radio to monitor the NOAA channels when the weather siren goes off. Functional, serviceable radios. Don't forget your GMRS license. It's $30.00, doesn't require any kind of tests and covers your immediate family. My wife, kids and I all have these radios and use them constantly. Especially when trying to figure out what breaker in the basement controls what lights on the second floor of the house!

GMRS but really for HAM
These are nice enough radios, worked well, very clear sound. I was looking for simple easy to use radios for beginners. Much like many of the FRS radios but hopefully more powerful. In general FRS radios are generally less powerful, shorter range than GMRS radios. I was looking for both extra power and easy for beginners to use. The secret is that these Baofeng G11S GMRS radios are actually powerful ham radios disguised as GMRS. Not sure if these are CHIRP compatible, but if they are, I'd expect you could program in 440 & 70cm ham bands. Probably my main picky complaint is that the squelch codes are listed only by frequency, not by standard code number. So when everyone brings their own radio and the group leaders says OK everybody get on channel 6, code2.... But you don't know what frequency code 2 is, so you have to ask if somebody knows or Google that & it's sort of a stupid hassle. And if you don't use the same squelch code as everyone else in your group, they can't hear you. And you have to dig into the menus to even find the squelch code setting. Almost everyone else's FRS & GMRS radios will have a squelch code #2, but the G11S doesn't have a squelch code 2, it only has CTCSS frequencies to choose from for example: 67 or 71.9 or 88.5. Which is not a problem if you brought a chart of what frequencies equal what code numbers, or if you are a ham & you know what you are doing. It is possible to set the CTCSS frequency that is the same as the squelch code number. But it's not built in so you have to look it up elsewhere first. Anyway, this seems like a dumb oversight and the radios worked great in my very limited testing, but I knew I'd spend all morning setting everybody's radios. Which is normally fine, but sometimes I have a lot to get done too. Anyway, since these didn't match my use case (beginners) I returned these G11S & also some GM-T8 & bought simpler FRS radios. I got the Baofeng MP-25, which I feel is good for beginners and comes in different colors like green or blue or camo.

Great radio for non radio people.
Way better that walmart bubble pack radios for similar price. Simple controls and buttons that don't intimidate radio noobs. Has features that can entertain experienced users. USB-C charging, sturdy built, NOAA weather, what's not to like?

Good radios for real people and nerds
I really like these radios. I a newbie radio nerd, these fit the bill. They are programmable with CHIRP as Retivis RB27. Good range and sound. Can be programmed for GRMS, FRS, MURS, and Marine frequencies, of course in accordance with the law. If you're not a nerd in training, just use them as they are and will be great for camping, events, etc.

Great Radios, bad batteries
Purchased these twice and they worked great for 2 weeks (both times) sent first pair back because battery died and wouldn’t charge back up leaving a dead radio. Exact same thing happened to the second pair. With no spare batteries available on Amazon (or anywhere) it makes these radios useless. When they worked, they worked great. Easy to use and program in CHIRP, good range and clarity, all good except the batteries.
